Re: [announce] swappolube to lubricate your gui
Ok so this is my first post here and my first time installing a file like this without using the usual downloads and app installer.
I installed the very first file on the first page (swappolube-nogui_0.1.2_armel.deb ) and after reading through I noticed other people posting newer files. Is it better for me to uninstall the first one and go with the latest file? Also, I don't see the Swappolube app anywhere in my menu but the installation process unpacked everything as it should have. Did the first file not have an actual app to run? ALi |

<br /> Swappolube-nogui makes the same thing of Swappolube; the difference is that Swappolube-nogui installs a set of changes and doesn't give an option to further tweak them; while Swappolube gives you a graphical interface which allows you to experiment with values if you wish to. So, Swappolube-nogui doesn't need an icon in your app list, it just works from the moment you install it - and stops working when you uninstall it. Swappolube, instead, has an icon to open the graphical interface. Hope it helps. |
Re: [announce] swappolube to lubricate your gui
After testing pr1.3 *without* swappolube for some days, I have reinstalled it. The difference is immediately evident and significant, in favour of swappolube. It is again part of my standard configuration.

Re: [announce] swappolube to lubricate your gui
You have to enable extras-testing to get swappolube, or directly extras-devel. Then you'll find it in your app manager. If you want to install swappolube, take care to uninstall swappolube-nogui, because the two are mutually incompatible.

Enabled Extras and Extras Testing, should I tread with caution in the Testing apps? I take it the extras would be just fine or should I not use the extras one either? ALi |
Re: [announce] swappolube to lubricate your gui
You can safely activate extras.
Extras-devel have apps tested only by the developer and few forum dwellers (or nobody at all ;) ); extras-testing gets apps ready for more structured and deep testing, and if they're found good they go to extras. Apps in extras are quite safe (but bugs are part of life and can't ever be excluded) If you are not handy with command line and repairing your own device or reflashing, stay far from the first two. If you know what you're doing, more or less, you'll get much more fun having the full range of bells and whistles on. |

I have extras testing only , because there are some apps that I dont want to update from devel and hitting ignore all the time is annoying |

thanks debernardis
Well after a couple of days I notice my phone is lagging again. I checked to make sure it was on and the settings were unchecked every time I opened it so I assume it is running and was just showing me the current settings. Whenever I go to my phone and open my messaging or my phone, it lags and I see the cpumem applet spikes to the red while opening. I thought this would solve my problems but I think not, unless I need to tweek the settings more which I have no idea what to touch first. ALi |
