Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)

you can manually run the tracker-processes updater or swtich it on and off. Usually that solves the problem. As another user said, you aren't missing much in this update. Personally, I do not see 'any' difference at all.

Edit: beaten, what Rob1n said ^^

Version: 3.2010.02-8

Do the real UK ones normally have an aditional suffix to the version then? I think I remember seeing one on my previous N900 (before the Netherlands version I got anyway!)

nielsvg, let's take a step back for a second. Are you saying you have the January update installed on your n900? If so, you're in the same position as the rest of us in UK, waiting for the new update to be relased.

Ok, false alarm. You don't have Uk firmware.

UK firmware has a 203 (Nokia Unlocked) or 205 (Vodafone specific). Chances are you have the global firmware on your n900.

Riight Netherlands version, that bit would have been helpful to include in your original post!! :)

We are waiting for the UK firmware update for phones running the UK firmware.

That's what everyone else on the UK firmware (203/205) is getting as well, so don't feel left out.

Which firmware version do you have UNderworld?

"Settings->About"

Nothing showing yet for 203.

It would be helpful if, aswell as alerting us that the update has became available on your phone, that you include the firmware version and location in your post.

Again, you can get the version by "settings-> About"

You can find your location by looking at the address on a recently received letter :)

This isn't a Netherlands version, so I didn't mention that - a previous N900 I had was a Netherlands version.
Then again, saying that, no idea what this one is. As I said in my previous post - this has been purchased from Nokia UK - so no idea why I don't have the UK firmware (other than as before they like to switch and swap what versions of phones they send to people - hence the last one I had that was destined for the Netherlands but ended up in the UK).

No worries though - If I've got the global Frimware, sorry to ring a false alarm - but it came as standard on my UK (or delivered to UK from Nokia UK) N900.

Hope you guys don't have to wait too long.

No problem, it can be confusing especially if you received one with the global firmware rather than a UK specific one. A lot of people have flashed it themselves. It's difficult to weed out which ones are which unless we can get people to start including their firmware versions along with their proclamations of instant update ecstacy!

Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)

I seem to have much better battery life after update. I'm a heavy user on N900, normally have to plug it in at least twice a day. But here we are at almost lunch time and I'm still about 80% full on battery. I've been using FM transmitter on my drive to work, browsing, took 2 phone calls over skype, and been using bluetooth headseat to listen to a podcast for the past few hours. Seems to be retaining more of a charge on the battery since the update...in my opinion.

Quite understandable, I only remembered the suffix on the version after reading these posts - after the trauma of going through three N900's after preordering - I mistakenly assumed I now had a fully working UK version! (The last one (Netherlands version had disabled FMTX etc, after a duff microphone).

Do you think that is something I should be worried about? Probably not if many people are flashing to the global version anyway.

Some people have flashed their phones with the global firmware (or replaced the UK core package with the global one), in which case they'll have had the update earlier.

I've no idea what "UK CV" means though. Where is this product code found?

it will have a certain set of features and/or settings specific to that country.... as aposed to settings specific to say "uk vodafone" that has different settings, and possibly network specific programs included.

I believe PR1.1 Voda got pulled because it has 3 simcard fix.
Of course Voda doesnt want that!

That's just my theory so I might be wrong.

Nokia could get a custom firmware without 3 simcard fix for Voda.

1.1.1 will still be released of course.
You don't have a Voda branded firmware if you have 203 code firmware.

Nearly all phones bought Nokia Online Store, Nokia Retail, MPD or flagship, regardness of what contract comes with it with whatever network, it will have 203 unbranded firmware

So you are not going to put in any effort at all and expect magically things to happen. Good luck with that.

Because you don't want it enough.

Yes, I know what to do.

You could search the thread for an answer. Actually less typing than your post.

Re: New N900 firmware 3.2010.02-8 released today (16 Feb)

I don't know how anyone who cannot be bothered to read/search through posts and demands people tell them information get ANY 'thanks'.

You aren't getting the update because your username has numbers in it which is confusing the package manager, you may have to delete your user account and recreate it.

I had battery-eye installed. Then I updated to PR1.1.1 over-the-air and absolute no problems. I just made sure to have enough space in rootfs. The update went through, no problems, auto-reboot, and battery-eye and sshd and rsyncd all worked as seemless as before. I don't think battery-eye is any evil. If python libs are updated, very good, why should this be a problem for another software which just *uses* that lib? System updates would be impossible if that were a problem in general.

You should also check that you've not (at some point) uninstalled the core update file. In X Terminal, run:
Code:

dpkg -l "mp-fremantle-*"
If it's marked as "un" then you'll need to re-install the package (should be mp-fremantle-generic-pr for Europe I think).
