I guess the naming convention is according to ISO 3166? That'll make it easier for me to map to them in the app.

Is this solved already?
For XP there is a powertoy for picture resizing and also an alternative for Vista (http://prishcom.spaces.live.com/blog...5411!128.entry)

Let me know if you still need help here and I will see what I can do...

Re: FIFA World Cup App ?

Hi!

I need some help again... QSportsEvent allows us to enter an RSS feed to be displayed in the 'News' tab. The one I have for the Italian Serie A is http://www.gazzetta.it/rss/Calcio.xml. When I enter it and look at the 'News' tab it is utterly unreadable. I believe it should be possible to apply a CSS style sheet to it, and a Google search resulted in this. However, reading that example it seems that I have to add the reference to the stylesheet in the XML file itself. Obviously, I don't have the file. Is there a simple way to apply a CSS to an RSS XML document? Worst case, I'll download the XML to the device, update it accordingly and render the local copy. Certainly, there must be better ways of doing this...

Thanks again if you are able to find something for me!

And as a side note, I have started updating the QSportsEvent Wiki page with some information about the planned releases.

QSportsEvent Wiki

Hm, canīt you look how other rss-readers do this job?
I mean they are doing exactly that, download a feed and show it in an at least readable format...

The wiki page is a nice idea and I also follow your twitter feed.
Its cool how you keep us all updated on your work and plans

BTW: its only 47 days left until v0.2.0 !!! :D
Hopefully :p

This has nothing to do with the app..but with football. Here is the (PES 2010) game with most yellow/red cards in the history of the world.

Italy 14 yellow cards and 4 red cards. France 14 yellow cards and 5 red cards. Italy win by default:

Re: FIFA World Cup App ?

A couple of thoughts from me regarding the discussion about the app icon.
I read a couple of times that due to the 64x64 / 48x48 size of icons there is a limitation regarding details. True, of course, an icon cannot show the NY skyline in every detail. But the limitation does not mean it has to be plain and boring.
I think, an icon, that is sexy and appealing for the user, should
- Depict the feature/scope of an app clearly / quickly understandable without quoting the app name
- Have at least some shiney, glossy, 3D or whatever effect to make it look professional
- be done nicely regarding graphic designing, sharp, not too much details, especially when its a simple one, there should be something that makes it look special.

Personally I am quite happy with the current one. The soccer skinned Q is done nicely as well as the soccer field. Both can be recognized easily, are not too small from my point of view and practically scream soccer ;-)

BTW@Magnuslu:What confuses me is, that so far all icons created follow the soccer theme, while you are planning to implement other sports. As soon as more sports are supported, a soccer themed icon will be obsolete - right? Can you please clarify your plans here?

The problem is that all HTML based rss readers I know of would do 'server side includes'. As the app doesn't have any 'server side', I have to do a 'client side' include instead. I've found this link and am working into including that into the app.

Ok, I'm giving up on this one (for now...). I'll have to learn more about JavaScript and CSS and how it works in the webkit browser of the device to get this to work. I'll attach my attempt so far (renamed to .txt to be able to upload it here) in case someone can find the obvious flaws. It is not properly rendered in IE and, critically, in the app.

What it has is one CSS style, one JavaScript function to load the XML and then a call to the function to render the whole thing, however it all looks awful! I'm sure it's mainly because of my extremely limited CSS knowledge...

We may ask Jorge Aragon, the site owner, if he is interested in letting a Maemo application access the data. As a reward, we could put in the application a banner for a PayPal donation to him, just like the one he has on the site.

I would like to ask how the hell does he get all those data? I don't think he paid for them.

So maybe start with a full application for the worldcup and make it better after that?

Agree, I will do the China team, oh no, they are not there..
OK how about Spain, I love them.
