The problem for me was MAG Hildon Desktop. Remove MoAG's hildon (maemodder).
I think it has installed, how do you tell?
Does the /system/about change?

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

(Just found it after digging around in the control panel after asking the above. Went back here and it looks like I got to the same place you [Gusse] suggested. Though I run Windows Vista on the machine I'm on now, so it's got slightly different names.)

Will get back here if it actually works for me or I have any bugs.

- Edit -

I'm ******ed - it's not showing up for me. All I have in the Remote tab of System Properties is Allow Remote Assistance Connections - nothing about normal remote connections. Does it have to be Windows Vista Professions/Ultimate? Not sure "Home 'Premium'" comes with Remote Desktop by default. (I knew I had some good reason for asking about a Remote Desktop server in the first place.)

- Edit 2 -

Yeah, brief Google says Home version doesn't even DO Remote Desktop courtesy Vista ********. Which brings up another irritation I feel about "Home Premium" - what an anal name to call an operating system version when it's so crippled. It's like wiping your fecal excretement on someone and then calling it all-natural prime organic skin lotion. It just insults your intelligence because you still know it for what it is.

It doesn't work like that. CSSU uses the same mechanism to update as Nokia's own SSUs do; however just as when a UK (203) update is released it doesn't show as an update on a global firmware device; so it won't when you're running the CSSU

(This is to do with the mp-fremantle-community-pr metapackage replacing the mp-fremantle-...-pr package of Nokia's).

If there is a PR1.4 (and it's a big if), the Community Council would liaise with Nokia and those involved in the CSSU to ensure that CSSU users weren't left in the lurch.

There are a number of ways that could occur, a new update of the CSSU meta-package could be put out which re-introduces the Nokia PR meta-package. Or, a new CSSU update could depend on the new Nokia packages exactly as the Nokia meta-package does. Or, a notification could be provided to users that they have to switch, and here's how (with or without a reflash).

Shouldnt Nokia officially 'pass the torch' to the Maemo community so this doesn't happen?
Nokia have been very supportive and enthusiastic about the Community SSU initiative. See, for example, the discussion Tero Kojo and the Community Council had at the MeeGo Conference. There were similar chats with a number of Nokians about how to make the CSSU a success.

See http://wiki.maemo.org/Community_SSU/Installation_FAQ for details as to how to investigate your problem, and provide more information so that people can assist.

One page ago. One, page, ago. This was answered. And then two pages before that. And then a couple pages before that. Maybe not literally, but it's been answered multiple times in the last few pages. Is it really too hard to go "hmmm... maybe someone just asked the same question about the software I just downloaded, let me skim over the last couple of pages..."? (Hint: The correct answer is no.)

It's also in the Installation FAQ.

Seriously people, remember the bit where I said this was the testing repo? Things will be broken. Please read the available documentation (hell, improve it if you want - it's a wiki) and the logged bugs and you'll save yourself, and everyone else, a lot of time.

As it says on the Installation FAQ, if it says it cannot install (e.g. "PC suite needed"), the Details > Problems tab in Application Manager can shed more light on the situation.

If you have "operation failed", perhaps you have broken repositories enabled? Can you paste the output from Application Manager's log, available under its window menu?

Re: The in-development Maemo 5 Community SSU

To those interested.

Modest orders e-mails by date.
And when browsing the e-mail via the View window (i.e. when reading an e-mail and using the arrow buttons to navigate) the "next" e-mail after the current one is the previous in date.
That is fine.
However, when deleting the current e-mail, it shows the "next" e-mail, i.e. the previous in date.
It is still fine.

The problem (for me at least) is when there are new e-mails. I usually go to the older and star reading from there.
So, when deleting an e-mail I think it's useless, I wanted it to skip to the "previous" e-mail (i.e. the next in date) I've received.

To alter this behavior I made a patch to modest in the Community SSU:

https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11839

The patch is available as an attachment and includes an UI setting to alter this behavior.
