So just to be clear, does drm mean digital rights management or direct rendering manager in this case? I think I'm fine with the latter.

I think in this case it means Digital rights management BUT I've just opened the drm partition in hex editor and it almost just contains zeros. It seems to be an empty ext4 partition

There's a "drm" partition but it's tied to Qualcomm's HW adaptation and it's not in use whatsoever.

Not sure if there is anything useful in this, at least some of these have names that may reveal their function. I guess all those "Q*" partitions are something internal from Qualcomm and probably uninteresting. The bootloader chain would be "rpm" -> "sbl1" -> "sbl2" -> "sbl3" -> "aboot" according to some sources on other Qualcomm-based Android phones that turned up on a quick web search (sbl = secondary bootloader).

"persist" is mounted on /persist and appears to contain WLAN driver configuration, including MAC addresses. "drm" is mounted on /drm and it's currently empty despite the standard lost+found directory. No idea about "security" and some of the others, though.

I don't think these partitions are scary, this is just the way it is set up by Qualcomm as vendor. In defense of Jolla, what would be the purpose of documenting this publicly? I would even expect that the documentation provided by Qualcomm is under a NDA…

A comprehensive breakdown and RE effort that may be good to look at (sorry for linking to another forum, but, all for the best intentions, and who says we cant benefit from working cross-forum)

I don't think any NDA can forbid Jolla to document their own device. The partition table gets disclosed anyway by selling it, see above nieldk for evidence. Jolla could definitely tell same thing you could, without breaking any NDA. Probably even more. Like "this partition contains stuff of Qualcom you better don't touch", "this is a bootloader partition and has nothing unusual, you will find similar partitions on a lot of other phones" etc

@joerg_rw well thats basicly it.

p28 is SailfishOS that you can tinker with, rest are not meant for tweaking they are needed for Qualcomm and Jolla HW Adaptation. We dont have any documentation that can be released for p0-27.

p28 is documented in here https://jolla.com/guide/

Great! :-D
Gotta love:
Code:

R2475 0[Ohm] 5% 0.050W
P = I^2 * R
I = sqrt( P / R )
;)
