You know that you can run binaries out of your /home/user directory? :)

EDIT: Appear to have solved it. My method was a misspelled step... and his is that the attachment has changed URL (changed it in the edit for anyone interested).

Yep. Got it running. After some really weird stuff happening. Ended up following the steps above (edited it out a bit).

Only tried out the one game, and it's running very slow :P But all the graphical issues are gone and sound appears to work perfectly (despite being slow).

Now, what is the commands for changing frameskip etc it's not in -help

You can't do spaces in a command line, it'd have to be something like this:
psx4m Crash\ Bandicoot\ 3

when entering filenames use tabulator to complete them. If tab doens't complete then filename you have started to typoed. Remember also that system is case sensitive.

Usually that means you have a symlink to itself, or symlink loop.
shell goes into loop trying resolving the symlink target and hits a limit of symlink depth.

If you do not know what to do with this file, you should wait for the official release.

Don't take it personally, but non-technical users do not provide valuable feedback anyway, and just generate forum noise which make it harder to find useful information. This thread already has 100+ pages, which 2/3 does not bring anything to the table really.

Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition

Just curious, what sort of feedback are you after? As is I spent about 20 minutes using it with no issue.. but without frameskip/cycle multiplier option I wasn't really interested in playing any more at half speed =x

Hey guys, excellent work FF7 is working pretty much at full speed, i have done a search on the forum and nothing comes up

Can someone help me with the memory card setup? how do i do it? on the front screen on FF7 i can go into the memory card screen and it advises me to format slot 1, i have done this but when i get to save points it will not allow me to save, stating there is no memory card in slot 1

Many thanks

Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition

I tried the emulator today. It loaded up teken 3 flawlessly, but a kinda laggy. I read 10-15 pages behind and saw many people recommending to install a bios. I tried both scph7502 and scph1001,but neither will load teken3.. Both get stuck on the "Sony" screen in the begining :X I read the "important pages" on the main post but couldn't find anything. Also a post with "good" settings would be nice(and added to Main Post). I read a few setting-compilations from users, but couldn't decide which is 'best'.
Currently I'm running:
0 gpu stats
0 display video
1 NULL GPU
0 Interlace
3 Cycle multiplier
0 Frame Limit
0/1 Frame skip
all frames skip to off
0 abe's oddysee fix.
<0=off>.
I guess I am doing something wrong here, but I just can't read through 102 pages and I really don't know what to search for in the search engine ><

Pete Bernert answered me.
Here is his original Email, followed by a translation by me.

Cheers,
Pete

The XGL2 will be open source anytime in the future... I just wanted to clean it up and comment it, therefore there is no schedule at the moment.

One thing I don't understand: the OGL2/XGL2 Plugin is more advanced, it need some special OpenGL Extensions, don't know if the N900 does have them.

Easier to port is the "normal" OpenGL/MesaGL Plugin, which I open sourced already...

I would say: if a coder fails to bring the normal OGL Plugin on the target platform, he doesn't have any chance with the OGL2/XGL2 Plugin.

Ergo: if Smokku wants to build as fast a spossible a hardware-accelerated plugin into his emulator, he should try the normal OGL Plugin first. The work he would do wouldn't be wasted because many things from the OGL Plugin is also integrated in the OGL2 Plugin, so that a later tuning shouldn't be difficult (as I said: if the N900 does support the special extensions).

Cheers,
Pete

OpenGL is VERY different to OpenGL ES.
OpenGL 2 is not much different to OpenGL ES 2.

Porting OpenGL 1 to OpenGL ES 1 means almost complete rewrite.
Porting OpenGL 2 to OpenGL ES 2 is a lot less work (Open GL ES 2 is a subset of OpenGL 2).

Do you think you could port a "dirty" un-commented source? if he gave it to you that is.

Tried this, it loaded fine with driver 1, seemed to load a little faster than previous versions (but that might just be me).

Not seen any in game speed improvements but graphics seem a little more stable, sound was a little scratchy though.

What improvements should this bring to the table?

Can't speak to everything but some things I have noticed with Raiden II.

Speed - much better - even without frameskip etc I am getting almost 35 FPS.

Graphics - better - also able to tweak screen size etc on the fly.

Where I have to put file .img?

if i write:

psx4m /home/user/MyDocs/Roms/Psx/TEKKEN3.img

it tells me :
Home directory /home/user not ours

what it means?

Haha honesty at it's finest!

Love this app, great being able to play FF7 for the millionth time while on the go (can't afford me a PSP Go atm :() but this is an awesome substitute!

Keep it up, not much else I can say that hasn't already been said! xD

Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition

Ok it runs ^^ .

Ridge Racer 4 15-16 fps

Wip3out 17 fps

Maybe using cycle setting and frame skip it runs really fast...

Only a thing

if i write:

psx4m -runcdbios /home/user/MyDocs/Roms/Psx/TEKKEN3.img

it tell me:
Home directory /home/user not ours

then it starts. What it means?

P.S. Returning to released version, it's incredible what NULL GPU option do! I gain 13fps with Wipeout it runs 45-50 fps! it's really fully playeble!

PSX4All isn't plugin based, you would need to modify the source code.

Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition

A thing for smoku and others!! Maybe it's important!!!!!

Yesterday i was playing Ridge Racer 4 with the old version of the emulator (the official release) and i noticed that the games were really faster (Ridge Racer 40-42 fps!).
This morning i played but the game was usually slow (30-32fps).

I did some tests and i found the reason. Yesterday when i was playing low battery message appeared on screen (the yello line message). Even if seems strange the truth is:

If when i play i let appear a yellow line message on screen it runs really faster. For example i start Ridge Racer, it runs at 30 fps but...if when i play i use volume button it gains 12 fps! Tested with Ridge Racer and Wip3out!!

Smoku!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why?!

PS. I tested same thing in the menu game! It runs at 40 fps, if i use volume button after 2 seconds it runs at 55-60 fps! ARGHHHH! I'm not fool!!!!!!

PPS. Tested Wip3out. 35 fps and runs a little choppy, 42-45 after using once volume button.

I m using n900 with 600 Mhz clock and cycle 6

The game is running very slow. Is there a racing game to recommend.

Wipout 3 works really fast, 45 fps with volume trick.

Some1 could test Volume trick? i'm really curious...

Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition

The xrerminal version is awesome. The graphic is sharper and without aliasing (psx4all graphic is way more pixelated). All games i tried worked without compatibility problems at 15-20 fps. If this is cycle 1 speed i wanna see what happens with cycle 4-5. Really good work! I follow for new realeases

Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition

Hey, right i know everyone will hate me for this but ive got version 3.9 on my n900 and tried to play ff7 on it but it froze at the first battle so after some research i found needed to get the bios so i put bios 1001 and 7520 (i think its that one) in seperatly. but when i load it up it just comes up with the sony entertainment start and just doesnt continue :/ ive tried everythng i can think of and looked around but i cant find anything, so im asking if someone can push me in the right direction. thanks

EDIT: its 7502 and i renamed it to 1001 but i had no luck with that either, also resetting all the settings doesnt work either...

Magik 2010-06-17 15:32

Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition

infernalrob3rt, just put the scph1001(the real one not renamed...delete the 7520) to Mydocs and FFVII should start and will not crash.
Worked for me.

Smoku, any progress? (just asking :D )

infernalrob3rt 2010-06-17 15:47

Re: PSX4All Maemo Edition

i put it in and it says that it has loaded the bios then it comes up with the sony computer entertainment logo and just keeps that on the screen :/ ive got the show fps on and that keeps changing but its just on the sony logo....any further ideas?
