Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.3 [ko v1.5.4] [ui v1.2.5]

I think it worked, thanks for the hint wook. I removed the kernel version from everywhere except the dependencies where I specifically said either one is fine, so it should be good to go on n9/n950 pr1.2/1.3. I updated the 1.5.4 version again since changing the # is a pain :)

I have a problem again.. When i'm trying to incept those files it says not found..? And files really are in that folder what i'm trying to incept..

Solved! I'm an idiot.. Didn't remember to install inception after my last reflash.. :D

Don't be lazy! read through the first ten pages of the thread and have a look!!

If you need to ask these questions, maybe you shouldn't be doing something that could potentially brick your device and void your warranty!

The same as on 1.2 as your hardware has not changed ;-)

However on PR1.2 I was able to apply my changes without any testing cycle. The same values now give me an error but apply fine after 1000.

Any idea?

Cheers

Probably a bug, I'll have to look at it to see why. Mine is doing that too...

Arie keeps asking too. There might be some way to disable the 1ghz opp without this tool, then you would be downclocked to 800.

no, i am talking about lowclock not highclock
i think i have issues when waking phone, it starts to chock :D really it behaves like that
seems like it's jumping from 300mHz to 900mHz then to 350mHz then to 950mHz then to 400mHz then to 900mHz then to 600mHz then to real speed...

I want it to sit at 300mhz when the screen is off and then hit say 1150(what im at now) when the screen is on, that would save battery and make the N9 pretty much the same as the droid 2's in that regard.

yes, but it is scalable, not fixed, so...it will be hard to sit exactly on 300...that's what makes choking though, anyhow, i am not quite sure, but this sounds like solution to me, clock sleep mode to 500mHz and it would wake easier, it's horrible when it's waking with phonecall...

Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.3 [ko v1.5.4] [ui v1.2.5]

I wouldn't say that...
only with OC I'm experiencing real, no laggy N9...
FasterN9 script made literally nothing to my N9, except for some strange mishaps like Messages app opening in intolerable 4 or 5 seconds, toggles in status bar working incorrectly, etc...so I got rid of it
now I continue to use my N9 @1.3GHz as with previous core version and it's all good...

Thanks a lot for making it possible on updated N9.

Unfortunately my N9 is not as much smooth after overclocking as it was in PR 1.2 after overclocking. In both cases I have overclocked it @1.3Ghz. Anyone else feeling the same or it is just me?

Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.3 [ko v1.5.4] [ui v1.2.5]

overclocking is a very subjective issue based on your chip and preferences. Its best to do trial and step at different frequencies to get your own optimal frequency instead of asking others for their opinions as there is a strong possibility that the chip batches differ.

You can try running some benchmarks if you want to make sure the overclocking still works, I never tested to be honest.

The only problem with that is if you are stuck on PR 1.2 for some reason you're gonna get the message popping up saying there's a new version but you won't be able to install it.
I just overwrote the file on my server again with another that should have the version string fixed internally too.

If you didn't sort this out already, I'd strongly suggest simply installing the module files twice - once into each kernel module directory. It's important that it not break during an upgrade from PR1.2 to PR1.3, which is what will happen if you install into only one directory.

The best approach IMO would be to install into one of the version directories, then make a hard link using ln in the postinst script before you depmod. Make sure to delete the hard link using rm in the postrm script, again before depmod. That way, only one copy of the files takes up space, but it works no matter what.

Of course, going PR1.3-only is a legitimate option - just make sure the dependencies are set up so that it can't be installed on PR1.2.

Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.3 [ko v1.5.4] [ui v1.2.5]

Yeah geez I didn't think of that problem, in the mean time anyone that upgrades the OS should reinstall this package afterwards because the modules will be in the old folder and modprobe won't find them anymore.

Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.3 [ko v1.5.4] [ui v1.2.5]

I have the same problem after Kernel 1.5.0 . With 1.5.0 I've used my device at 1300Mhz and 1.3v stable for more than a month . Now with these new versions nothing seems to work like before , the 1300mhz now needs more than 1,325v because it's freaky unstable , phone crashes in max 3 minutes even after 16000 iterations . It's a software problem I'm sure about that , my phone was able to run 1300Mhz at 1300000uv for months with 0 crashes or bugs .

Please tell me how could I fix this ? or how could I trick the OppUI to get the 1.5.0 version instead 1.5.4 . I've tried to replace .ko files in /lib/modules/current/ but it wasn't recognized in OppUI , everything was Unknown . :(

Re: overclocking kernel modules + UI for PR1.3 [ko v1.5.4] [ui v1.2.5]

if you want them to be loaded automatically you need to use the installer for whichever version you want, not just copy the modules.
The md5 or sha-1 hash is inserted somewhere during the install to authorize them, the loader doesn't do anything like aegisctl -k on each boot so it can't load them otherwise.

I'm having problems with SmartReflex.

Installed via Open Kernel. Set at 800 MHz @ 1100000 voltage. SmartReflex disabled.
Works fine so far.
But if i try it with SmartReflex enabled I only get a reboot and setting aren't applied. Not working.

Anyone else expierenced that kind of issue so far?

Finally I found out the source of this problem . When you disable smartreflex with OppUI , only SR1 gets disabled , SR2 remains untouched (enabled) and is causing crashes . I had to disable it manually and so far my device is rock solid .

I left the other one on because it's supposed to be for the graphics, not cpu.

Yeah , but it makes my life harder , so please ... :D:D:D

If I enable Apply on startup and reboot my device it boots twice due to SR2 activation and crash within 5 seconds , so everytime I have to turn it off manually with redak editor or winscp . And running stable with SR2 on requires +37500uv , a bit too much for 1.3Ghz .

I want to make some executable scripts with icons for disabling sr2 and other tweaks but with these updates of inception , aegisctl , I can not run them anymore on phone but with putty I can use ariadne sh "script" and it runs well .

Here are my scripts , please tell me if I did something wrong .

DSR
Code:

echo 0 > /sys/power/sr_vdd2_autocomp
echo 75 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/up_threshold
echo 150000 > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/ondemand/sampling_rate

ocDSR
Code:

ariadne sh "/opt/overclock/DSR"
DSR.desktop
Code:

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=0.1
Type=Application
Name=DisableSR
Exec=/opt/overclock/ocDSR
Icon=/usr/share/themes/blanco/meegotouch/icons/icon-m-bootloader-warning.png

Both ocDSR and DSR files are located in /opt/overclock/ and the .desktop file in /usr/share/applications . :confused:

okay, I tried to fix 3 annoying bugs for now, can anyone test?

opptimizer-ui (1.2.6) unstable; urgency=low
* Fixed bug preventing 15k iterations to unlock the apply on startup option
* Fixed bug where crashes flag is not cleared when doing test of higher frequency at same voltage
* Fixed bug where 0 iteration test fails
