My latest wow moment was when I modified a html file with the Leafpad app and uploaded it to the webserver with the gFTP app after I had the heart to install it from extras-devel.
The possibility to update my website from nearly everywhere is really cool! |
Re: What have been your 'wow' moments with the N900 so far?
I am not totally sure if N900 can earn many polite words from average consumers after some serious bugs but I really think that real consumers might still see really a bit more WOW features than many developers. Developers are more exited about doing hacks requiring (too) many WOW moments
Okay, it's also good say that to get all benefits and features out of the box you really need to be technically skilled person. That's why there are two very different point of views about WOW moments. For me, personally, there are three WOW moments. The greatest WOW comes simply from hardware mechanical maturity. I love the keyboard (though it could be a bit better with four rows)! I think that hardware knowledge has always been the best part of Nokia quality and hope that continues. Second WOW comes from the fact that it is the first Nokia made mobile device having cellular modem inside running with GNU Linux operating system and it's totally open for anything. It's not a real phone (Phone application is very poor), it's much more. Third WOW comes from communications and browser capabilities. I love the freedom to have all my IM services in my pocket. Same thing with browser. Those features just works and are really integrated to the system, easy to use and fast to access. Nothing to shame comparing to iPhone for example. I haven't been always happy. I bought mine in December 2009. My first expression was not WOW because of random rebooting and other stability issues. Those problems are now gone after doing several workarounds and finally after real software upgrades. But it is always very much unwanted situation (especially if you spend over 600 euros). N900 certainly has its own flaws but also some good as well, a lot potential to the future :D |
Re: What have been your 'wow' moments with the N900 so far?
It has a STYLUS!!! :D
Of course I knew it did. If only the iPhone had a stylus... and a removable battery and a higher res screen and wasn't locked to iTunes and could multi-task and had copy/paste (didn't when I owned it) and had bluetooth headphone support and didn't require jailbreaking to be open... nevermind. ;) |

Re: What have been your 'wow' moments with the N900 so far?
The first time I wow'd was when I was able to show off my phone running a gba emulator playing pokemon red.
The second time was when I was able to hack the notification lights to give me different colors for different things. The most recent time was when i overclocked my phone to 800mhz in about 3 minutes total =) |
Re: What have been your 'wow' moments with the N900 so far?
WOWs in no particular order:
- the desktops - contacts - IM integration (currently have msn, skype, googletalk, facebook using jabber) - multitasking dashboard with camera light press bringing it up (shortcutd app) - video quality!!! since firmware update pr 1.1 - screenresolution - HW keyboard - Infrared port for controlling my MacBook Pro (raemote app) - Wordpress app for updating and editing my blog/artistpage on the go - Media player with XVID DIVX WMV etc. codecs - ability to connect to a streaming media server on my home computer - World TV99 in KMplayer, watching digital tv stream from all around the globe, stunning! - Oh YEaH!! THE MICROB BROWSER!!!! - using the ledflash as a flashlight - customisable multicolor LED (loved to hack the colors to my liking) - OVERCLOCKING The N900 TO 900MHz :D -endless possibilities - the community! etc.... would take too long to explain everythin i got on this "phone" in one word : AMAZING |
