Re: Mozilla-based Browser for the Nokia N800
Does anyone now where in the file structure the prefs are stored for the app?

If you had bothered to search, you would have found this thread:

I actually did a search on the forum first. I guess I wasn't using the magic search terms. :p Thanks.

Re: Mozilla-based Browser for the Nokia N800
I've somehow lost the single click link following. Only way I can follow links is holding down stylus till context menu opens. Starts happening shortly after starting n800 and browsing sites with MicroB.

Re: Mozilla-based Browser for the Nokia N800
I installed the MicroB browser and it works good on some sites but Opera works better on other sites. For example, if you go to Wall Street Journal website (even iPhone browser crashes on that web site sometimes), MicroB browser handles it poorly and loses the Touch-scrolling completely. You have to use scollbar on the Wall Street journal website: http://online.wsj.com/home/us
Also, here is another example of site that works fine when using Opera engine but goes in a loop when using the MicroB browser: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E...ef/techref.htm If anyone has any tips on how to make these two web pages work properly on Micro-B browser, I would greatly appreciate it. |

Re: Mozilla-based Browser for the Nokia N800
I did install Mozilla etc. 2 weeks ago and am not happy. The microb-browser does not work better then Opera. As reported below the browser does not work well with many sites, for example not wrapping the text on www.Reuters.com correctly The browser is obviously slower than opera. I could not find any advantages of AJAX other than better linking up with Google mail and Google docs, which is a problem in Opera. Maps works on both if Opera links to maps. Disappointing. :(

Re: Mozilla-based Browser for the Nokia N800
The browser is in beta.
And the experience can be subjective. For me, microb DOES work better than Opera because of my particular needs. If you want microb to improve, post your experiences and needs on Bugzilla. |
Re: Mozilla-based Browser for the Nokia N800
It's a beta. It's expected to have problems.
If you're not happy installing beta software, don't. If you are, accept the implicit contract that by making this software available for use prior to release (and potentially suffering "negative" press), it's your responsibility to raise good bugs in Bugzilla. Installing it, not raising bugs and just moaning on forums makes it less likely for Nokia to announce plans of future releases of IT OS (rather than Maemo), release more beta software and many of the other things many of us are advocating they do to be more open. |
Re: Mozilla-based Browser for the Nokia N800
I fully agree about raising good bugs. It is a tremendous accomplishment to build a browser that works as well as the Micob. However I am sure you will agree that any serious discussion must be based on facts and it is a fact that Opera works sometimes better on the N800. As mentioned before Opera lacks AJAX and that (probably) makes working in het Google environment slow and sometimes simply not possible. Here, MicroB is much nicer. It is also a fact that Google docs does not work with Opera and does with Microb - but still too slow.
I noted from your http://www.bleb.org that you are a very strong Mozilla / Firefox advocate. That is all very nice, but should not cover up serious comments. For the record: I am not a Microoft advocate: on the contrary. Regards, Abel. Quote:
