Re: Jolla User Experience Thread
Plugged my jolla into my mac. It must be detected because dropbox pops up and offers to upload my photos.
But the phone and the micro SD don't appear in finder. That's a lot of a problem as my music is all in itunes on the mac Is there any way to see the SD card in the phone - not seen a file manager in the Jolla store, so assume I need an android one Suggestions for accessing the SD card from the mac would be welcome - I want to get some use from the music app:-) |
Re: Jolla User Experience Thread
Can anyone please verify whether idle XMPP usage (just being on-line) drains battery excessively or not? Preferably, use any server besides Google's. For a test it's enough to keep the status on-line all the time and see see how it affects the battery life.
Also, does Jitsi for Android work for XMPP/Jingle video/audio calls? |

Another one, what about buying paid content in the Google Play store? |
Re: Jolla User Experience Thread
How's the Yandex store? Any deficiencies in that store? I know the original Google Apps are largely missing, but any other notable exceptions?

Yandex.Store app has worked fine except two problems: 1) there was probably some kind of resource exhaustion which was crashing/killing the app. I was able to resolve that by closing all other running apps. Haven't seen it since. 2) mobile data connection problem. You have to use temporarily WLAN to fix it. Based on comments on this thread, this problem can be seen also on other Android apps. Search doesn't necessarily show the most relevant result in the top. |

cd ln -s /run/user/100000/media/sdcard . (Notice the dot at the end of ln) After that you can access the microSD card with USB MTP (Jolla's normal PC connectivity) by going to directory "sdcard". WFM. No warranty :) Edit: (And you probably can escape to the root directory of Jolla by similar commands but I haven't tested this. There is danger that you can brick your Jolla with escaping to root and then going around and fiddling, especially if the permissions and priviledges are not right.) |

i use this, for example: https://sync.t-online.de/ it's your own private exchange account, so it should do all you want and be usable on Jolla. maybe there are no absolutely cost-free services out there, but i don't understand, why everybody thinks, an email account should always be cost-free anyway... |
Re: Jolla User Experience Thread
Although there is a backup option I cannot find where it is saved when connected to my PC. There is also no option to back up to SD card yet

If I start with a completely fresh formatted SD card, where do I need to put music? Unfortunately all mine is in itunes on my mac, so not many alternatives |
Re: Jolla User Experience Thread
Put it where you want as the Phone will scan the card for all media contenst and catagorise according to tags.

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread
aha Ok well will just copy my itunes folder to it and see what happens:-)

They install, and show in My apps, but are not usable in Ambiances. Tried uninstalling, and rebooting many tmes. Also Store works, and have jolla-account. I made service request (at jolla.zendesk.com) of this on 1st of Dec, but no reply from Jolla as of yet. |

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread
Quick test of browser opening speed Jolla vs N9
Opening that same page (screen bookmark on the N9 and Last opened Page on the Jolla) On a decent LAN opening the same page with no other apps open Jolla 17secs : N9 20secs Not particularly scientific but it does bear our my impression that the Jolla is a lot quicker and smoother in general usage. |

Re: Jolla User Experience Thread
Ok, now I am beginning with paranoia questions. Let's begin with the browser:
does about:config work and is it possible to create/edit (new) entries? I am thinking of setting all sequrity.ssl3.*rc4* settings to false, security.tls.version.max to 3 (tls 1.2), security.tls.version.min to 1 (disable sslv3) - look at an actual desktop firefox's about:config to know what I mean. These parameters are working on firefox desktop and android (!) to be more crypto-stable. Because we have a 25/26 xul engine it should work on Jolla too if the parameters can be set (true?) Does anyone tried to insert the root certs of https://cacert.org? (or are they actual in the cert store?) What is the workflow to do this? Can I see/edit my trustcenter certs stored in the cert stack of the device and the browser? @Jolla-guys: When working on caldav/carddav/webdav: Please think about a working https-implementation and TLS/SNI working! There is a new free Carddav/Caldav implementation (DAVdroid) on Android and it took months to let the programmer think about SNI and he had problems to implement it because the os api had no way to do it. Why not just implement it at the beginning... |

I use it on Symbian though but notice it exists for Android http://cn.appszoom.com/android_appli...ive_gajjy.html It says only the SD Card is writable. As a loyal customer I will write demand the developer to port the application , why not? |

Another comment relates to setting up Google account, and I must say that even if you configure it corretly and you get emails and contacts synced, no calendars appear to Calendar app. And there is no way to setup external Calendars (cause there is no CalDav support). Maybe there has been a lots of requets lately, and they do not have enough resources to reply to all. Still I hope that customer service would respond more prompty - five days wait to be acknowledged is a long time IMHO. Cheers, and have a great day ;) |
