Nah this thread's more like North Korea; it has no direction, is a giant circus/stage-show, & is in a constant state of fear/purgatory.
But that's okay, variety is the spice of life, this thread's for almost total noise, the other's are slightly more focused/targeted.

It takes some intelligence & powers of observation, + not everyone has good calculative abilities.

I don't know about that.

It might turn out to be a positive that they have the flexibility to substitute the right person for the job as they progress through each stage of development and delivery.

I don't really see a massive downside other than maybe it goes against the norm and some people may be confused.

Why do you feel like that?

As a job description CEO is just another job in a company. I have understood that at Jolla the people try to rotate jobs as much as possible, it's a kind of agile method, everybody learns by doing and supports each other.

In a startup CO that's quite possible to do, when all people work in one room or one floor of a building. In a larger company, it would not be possible.

I guess it's a sensible thing to do for Marc to hand over to someone with better experience at driving a juggernaught on the open road than them continuing to have the engine developer at the wheel.
Just hope the new CEO has got a good track record and hasn't left a trail of trashed companies in his wake.

when ever you bring in a new leader, they will implement their way of working. On the toplevel positions, changes takes time, So there is a reason why (Great) high level managers stay on longer than 6 months.
