To bring some flesh to the thread I have a news and a question.

1. The news is I am working on porting PCSX OpenGL GPU plugin to PSX4ALL and OpenGL ES.

2. The question is, whether you would rather like me to release current version ASAP or you'd wait for the hardware accelerated GPU?

how the PCSX OpenGL GPU differs from Pete's XGL2 Linux PSX GPU in performance, which is better? I will wait for the GPU support rather than GUI. Keep up the good work.

if with cycle framerate is better then old version, i vote for release now, after all we are are little impatient babies. Other wise (low frame rate with cycle) keep on working on accelerated graphic. And Smoku, thanx as ever...

I would be happy to wait for the H.A GPU version.

You will only get bombarded with question after question with any release you bring out, you might aswell just bring out one completed H.A GPU version and then hold on tight for all the hysteria coming your way.:D:D:D

My vote is to wait for a final release (hopefully not too much), and build a statue for smoku. You are one of the bet contributors around. Thanks.

As a suggestion, could you make up-left and up-right programmable using a specific key in the next version? I find it hard to press them on the keyboard.

GPU Pwease! Then i think Smoku should ring up Nokia tell them he owns the n900 now, request the firmware code and we can give him a sack O cash to write a new firmware ;)

Actually if Nokia were smart, they would hire the people here (Qwerty12, Smoku, etc..) before another company snatches them away like Google did with gnuite.

Definitely, DEFINITELY wait for the GPU accelerated version

Quality > Speed

BTW smoku, how is the open gl to es porting going? I mean, is it difficult to handle or is it going smoother than expected?

PSX4ALL is not plugin-based so for it to have GPU acceleration the plugin code needs to be merged with the original software code or some technobabble like that which I do not fully understand :D

No! we don't want Nokia to snap them up because they will just get moved to meego and the n9x, at least we can sit here and keep our fingers crossed that google can't be bothered to read through these threads and even if they do they have the same problem as we do i.e one good post and about a million useless ones very much like thise very one I created! I wouldn't mind another dev build in between though. psx4m was a huge improvement (even though we couldn't change cycle's or frameskip) and I'd be keen for another similar to it.

as smoku has already said, he wants psx4maemo ready for the developers competition in mid july so we can expect a nice improvement in the repo's sometime in july :)

i vote that you will handle the process in a way that u still will be motivated to continue developing this emulator.

but personally i would enjoy 3dhardware acceleration the most! :)

i hope that u develop in a way that u can take advantage of the 3dhardware-plugin, and reuse for other upcomming ported apps/games without redoing too much work.

Yeah just want to clarify:

Perfect (fullspeed + sound -frameskip for demanding titles) emulation could be achieved for PSX on N900.

Decent (halfspeed + sound - frameskip for demanding titles) emulation could be achieved for N64 on N900.
Naturay this would be lightly frameskipped, making it very playable but causing some instabilities.

Decent (halfspeed +sound +high details for good sized matches) Quake 3 could be achieved. Naturally the maps would be made smaller with less detail, each character will be made minimalistic with less than 10 in each match, some frameskip and texture degrading would be necessary to make the experience fluid.

I say possible, and would require some OC (maybe 750MHz), Hardware Acceleration, no driver issues and a very optimized port, but don't hold your breath.

Where did you pull that crap from?

We already have Quake 3 running at full speed. N64 could quite easily run full speed.. without frameskip @ 800MHz. As could PSX.
