Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
Thanks Bonapart and Sakya. This emulator is amazing and I'm glad you guys are still working on it. <3 :)
|
Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
Do you know for sure that sakya has abandoned the project or did you just say that because it takes him a while to reply?
I don't think he's abandoned it, but I honestly wouldn't blame him. The sources of psx4m are a mess ;p Are there any essential maemo-specific fixes in place for the N900-port or does the port only touch the gui and controls, bonapart? |
Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
So I just finished Final Fantasy 9 using this. Had exactly one graphical glitch in one specific boss spell in over 50 hours, but it didn't even affect gameplay (just some missing graphics). It was my first time playing the game and I must say I really liked it. The characters are great and after the mess that was Final Fantasy 8 (imo), I'm glad they went back to their roots with this one. Not sure why I waited so long to play it, to be honest, but I'm glad I finally ended up doing it. One of the best JRPGS I've ever played and a reminder of just how good Squaresoft used to be at producing them.
If you guys like JRPGs, this one is great and it's fully playable on psx4m with the rearmed core. Sound also works well for the most part, with only a few hiccups here and there (my n900 was overclocked to 900mhz btw). Next up, Breath of Fire 3. :) |
Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
Try Grandia I'n currently playing it it's great and working smooth also very good sound!!!
|
Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
im almost finished with FF8 - this series has the best games ever, and the emulator works perfectly.

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
I sent Sakya a PM a couple of days ago (about a week now, I think? Forgot to set my profile to save sent messages), but he hasn't responded yet despite having logged in several times between then and now.
Welp... bonapart, does the package contain any N900-specific fixes or is it all purely GUI? |
Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
small subsets of code is n900 specific
maemo directory, makefile, configure, debian directory, small part of gles plugin, main.c p.s. code - http://notaz.gp2x.de/cgi-bin/gitweb.cgi , source package here - http://maemo.org/packages/source/vie...d/0.4.0.14.12/ , just use diff tool to see whats exactly should be fixed to compile new code ;-) |

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
1.open the emulator
2.press the toolbar (where it write PSX4m-GUI) and choose "GUI config" 3.press on "ROMS DIRECTORY" and select the folder where you have your isos. 4.restart the gui (close and reopen). 5.choose the game and press "configure" and at core choose "PCSX-REARMED" if its not already. Now press "X" and click save. 6 Now press play and enjoy |

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
you can convert any .img o .bin to eboot to expend less bytes of memory and they work great with psxrearmed! Ofcourse some games wont work in any format but most of them yes
|
Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
So I tried the latest version of PCSX ReARMed on Android and it's really good. Android now has 3 fully functional psx emulators and they're all surprisingly good. It's a shame the Maemo version isn't getting any updates anymore. Please, Sakya! :(

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
Here you go!
Pcsxrearmed Downloads: Binary: pcsxrearmed_0.4.0.14.13_bin.zip Deb package: pcsxrearmed_0.4.0.14.13_armel.deb Source code: pcsxrearmed_0.4.0.14.13.tar.gz Psx4m-gui downloads: Deb package: psx4m-gui_0.4-6.14.12_armel.deb Source code: psx4m-gui_0.4-6.14.12.tar.gz The pcsxrearmed deb package is not optified (I don't have maemo-optify on my windows installation of the toolchain, but opening with 7zip it seems optified...), so you can download the binary zip and overwrite the old files with the new ones (remember to make pcsx executable in this case). The main difference is the "enhance graphic" option in pcsxrearmed. The gui ha been updated to use this new option. Activating the option 3d graphic is rendered better (but a little slower). Here are two screenshots with the option enabled and disabled: Option enabled: http://www.freeimagehosting.net/t/1zm95.jpg Option disabled: http://www.freeimagehosting.net/t/yzaru.jpg I didn't test the package and the emulator (I just launched two games to see if it starts). |
Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
Sorry, it seems I made a mistake.
Options are not correctly applied, I'll fix this asap and repost the package. ;) EDIT: and the enhance option DOES something: Option enabled: http://www.freeimagehosting.net/t/1zm95.jpg Option disabled: http://www.freeimagehosting.net/t/yzaru.jpg ...rebuilding the package now. ;) EDIT: Ok, packages updated. I didn't change the version, just reinstall it. I also updated the gui to add the new option and remove the options not supported anymore. EDIT: Is it just me or it crash when a FMV is played? I'll try to fix this tomorrow, but I must admin I don't have a lot of time... |

now half my games wont start after trying them, even without enhanced graphics ticked.

You can install the old version from the repos: http://repository.maemo.org/extras-d...4.12_armel.deb http://repository.maemo.org/extras-d...4.11_armel.deb |
Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
It seems I fixed the crash problem, anyone interested can test these packages.
I added to psx4m-gui another option to activated the "enhanced graphic hack", it should speed up the enhanced graphic (but may cause some glitch). Pcsxrearmed Downloads: Deb package: pcsxrearmed_0.4.0.14.14_armel.deb Source code: pcsxrearmed_0.4.0.14.14.tar.gz Psx4m-gui downloads: Deb package: psx4m-gui_0.4-6.14.13_armel.deb Source code: psx4m-gui_0.4-6.14.13.tar.gz EDIT: I updated pcsxrearmed to version 0.4.0.14.14 (fixed GUNCON). |

Re: [Announce] Sony Playstation 1 Emulators
So where does one get info on what is working and what is not, and what is the best option and what is needed to install for playing a ps1 game.
Looked at the first thread, but it seems out of date or? |
