Just edit the python script and point it to a mirror (if exists) or set your own mirror and point it to localhost.

Yeah, that's what I want to do. I just need the mirror as you suggest.

F.Y.I. I e-mailed Nokia Support about some issues with the store, in addition to the harmattan dev site being down, and they had this to say:

Quote:

In addition, this is just to update you regarding on your previous inquiry about the "http://harmattan-dev.nokia.com/", please be advise that the website is down for maintenance. Rest assured that we are working as quickly as possible to get an information page up the soonest.

Hi,
Any chance to payout the bounty share before Xmas?
I think, we can start to collect the data needed, as I'm afraid that it will take also a long, long time :(

Ofcourse, it'll only take a couple of days to do the bounty prizes. I know everyone will find the bounty money useful with Christmas coming. We still have a few device prizes to follow up on, I would expect everything to be completed in the next week or two... hang in there! :)

Edit: Just got word back from marmistrz and fcrochik that they received theirs ok, here's the updated list of 'not yets' and 'unknowns'
  • Paolo Angelelli
  • netvandal (not yet)
  • kesrut
  • Wikiwide (not yet)

Edit:
jackburton, I added a query on your behalf to this thread - hopefully someone might have some advice. Have you thought of just not using scratchbox in the meantime? :)

Thanks, Kojacker. I saw that. I'm going to go ahead and get the Qt SDK and see what the QEMU images have built into them.

If that's your short reply Wikiwide, I would hate to see your long reply :)

I'm going to message qwazix and see if we can reach out to the Nokia rep, maybe he/she can offer some clues when these two devices (yours and netvandals') were sent and perhaps get some tracking info. We might reach out directly, but we'll keep you up to date with whatever we find out.

Edit: email sent to qwazix.

I'm not sure the news is any worse or anything different than what we already knew, ikkysleepy. Here's the last two updates from the Nokia Developer Community manager (bottom one from yesterday) on the status of the maintenance.

Quote:

The intention is to restore the site. It is down for maintenance while we investigate a security issue - currently we are waiting on a redirect to an information page. We don't yet have an ETA on its restoration.

Apologies for the inconvenience. We take security issues very seriously and will shut sites down if there is any risk to user's personal data.
Quote:

I have been told that this is being worked on and we will be informed when the job is done. I appreciate this is not at all helpful but unfortunately that is all the information that is available.
It sounds to me that it's still being worked on ok and he still expects it to be back before too long.. is there anything in particular you needed from the site ikkysleepy? Maybe we can help find it in the meantime?

I must admit I'm not sure I've ever looked at this Harmattan-Dev site, now that it's down and I can't see it I'm finally curious what was on it :D

Re: 2012 Coding Competition

Hi all, I think we can go ahead and start distributing the bounty while the last 2 devices are being tracked down. At the moment the Bounty total stands at a healthy Eur 805.94 - many thanks to everyone who contributed! We're going to divide this by 7 to make 7 equal shares. The amount is a little awkward to divide up so I've added a little more euros in the pot to bring it up to 812, which equals an even 116 euros per category.

I'm pressed for time today, but tomorrow I'm going to work out the list of bounty share winners and have them posted for you all to see. I'm going to ask for the paypal address of each winner then. I'm sorry, yes I know we're always asking you for details and stuff but well.. :p Once I get those i'll pass them over to zehjotkah who'll send the money as soon as he's able. We know money is always useful but especially at Christmas/winter time, so we want it to be with you asap.

Because netvandal's device hasn't arrived, i won't re-assign the two bounty shares from the Location & Navigation category just yet until we know what's happening with that.

Btw Wikiwide and netvandal, did anyone from Nokia get in contact about your missing devices? or any other updates since?

No updates, yet.
I will surely contact you as soon as any news arrive - when it happens.
Land of great island isn't exactly close to Finland, so the mail, be it by air or water, has reason to be quite late, I suppose...

Re: 2012 Coding Competition

Time to open up the maemo.org Coding Competition community bounty chest!

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...re_chest-2.png

Altogether, we have collected a wonderful €812 ($1053) - thank you again to everyone who contributed! This leaves an even €116 for each of the seven competition categories. The first bounty prize winner will receive 60% of the category share, and the runner up bounty share winner will receive the remaining 40%.

Looking at the results, and removing the 25 device winners, the (provisional) bounty share winners for the first 6 categories will be:

Desktop, System, and Utilities:
  • DingMee
  • ReferIt

Games, Graphics, and Multimedia:
  • Lone Wolf
  • Nyan Cat

Network and Communications
  • WifiTrans
  • Bumblr

Other:
  • MeeGoal
  • Kana of the Day

Updates and Development on Existing Apps:
  • ProfileMatic
  • Presence VNC

Beginners:
  • Allocine
  • Task Poach

The bounty shares from the Location and Navigation category will be assigned once we resolve the issue with the 2 late/missing device shipments.

Many congratulations to our bounty share winners!

If the above doesn't appear correct or if there are any questions, please reach out to me on pm or via the competition email address - maemo.competition2012 'at' gmail.com. I will leave the results as provisional until Monday midnight GMT, after which the results will be confirmed. I will then reach out to the winners directly for their paypal address details to which they will receive their prize.

Any idea if he Council/BoD has plans to start another one of these "piggy banks" of sorts?
I reckon we should have one going permanently, maybe two; one for infra. & the other for dev devices?

I'm not aware of any plans jalyst, but it's not something I'd have any visibility into.

I believe I read somewhere (maybe on MWKN) that zehjotkah is going to be treasurer for the Hildon foundation - so I guess if anyone knows about any BoD plans it'll be him. Similarly, qwazix may know more about any council plans. I think your best way for an update would be pm'ing them directly or asking on the "Ask the council" thread. Or if they pop onto this thread they mght leave a reply below :)

How are attempts at contact going?
Are the Nokia employees on sick leave?
Time is coming to the winter festivities.

I am hoping for the long shadow to arrive before the New Year's Eve.
Server, I hope, will still work the next year; thanks to you all for your ongoing support of it.

Guests are welcome, gifts are given, tricks are shared, advice is saved, jokes are spoken, and goodwill upheld.
Old is not forgotten, and new is not ignored, as the world is slyly moulded.
Illusion of loss may hang around Nokia, but this cape will not shroud magnificence of open source cooperation from those who care to look underneath the underneath.
Normally, it would be posted as off-topic, if at all, but I wished to sound a wake-up call...
Gone have many hours and days since last in this thread update.

Of course, there are activities in other threads going on.
Nevertheless, I shall inquire: what is the latest information on this topic?

The last I heard from qwazix is that he was having problems getting a response from the Nokia rep. I know he tried another avenue without much luck, there's so little we can do for you until we can reach someone on Nokia's side I'm afraid :(

Nokia should be able to tell us if the package has been shipped and what the tracking details is reporting - if the package has been delivered somewhere or has gone missing/held in customs. You are able to check your address is right on the account and there is no chance of an address mix up or something like that. But there's nothing much I can do for you to help, as much as I want to. I assume you've already checked your address details so it wouldnt have been delivered somewhere else - so all we can do is keep prodding Nokia to look into it. I know that's not very helpful right now :(

It's a really sucky situation. I'm just hoping qwazix and the council Nokia contacts will get there in the end for you. And same for netvandal too ofcourse.

Yep, someone had challenged the results but i think it was a misunderstanding that has been sorted out now (related to additional prizes for multiple entries from same developer, ie. we dont). It took a few emails back and forth, but i haven't heard anything in a couple of days. i'm assuming everyone else is happy that it's correct.

Because I'm dealing with people's generously donated money, it's extra important I don't screw this bit up.

I'll be emailing all you bounty winners over the next day or so. But those on the list, feel free to email the competition email address with your paypal address details in the meantime to move things along. I'll pick it up and get it ready to send to zehjotkah to do the payments.

Edit: All emails sent to the bounty share winners, as listed here, requesting their paypal email address.

Edit2: Received 6 so far - thanks guys.

Wikiwide and netvandal we haven't forgotten you. I have tried to contact two Nokia representatives myself, one never responded, the other has left Nokia. The latest action was yesterday, when ivgalvez informed me that he forwarded my e-mail to the board's Nokia contact. We now again have to wait for a response.

Thanks for your patience, I will give you an update as soon as I know anything.

Hi Hossein, don't worry I got it :) Sorry for the late reply but I glanced quickly and hadn't realised the question, but don't worry - you're not the only person with a paypal problem. It will be no problem to send your prize to your friend's paypal account.

For those asking about sending to other accounts - please be aware that it's up to you to get from the other person :p Once it's sent and collected, we can't send it again, so make sure you trust them! But if it's your wishes and the best way to get your prize to you, then it's what we can do.

I got the last paypal address about an hour ago, I'm going to send the collection of paypal addresses to zehjotkah in a moment.

Edit:

How long has it been since last successful contact with Nokia?
Ostensibly, the Maemo people within Nokia either have left or are busy - hopefully, with migration of the website.
What has been the response to the last letter sent to Nokia?

Appreciating your effort.
Ruminating over various possibilities.
Expecting the best, fearing the worst.

Yearning over those whose device is broken.
Ominous doomsday is not going to happen, not this month, not next year.
Understandably impatient yet attempting to concentrate nevertheless.
