slight off topic, but how long will your initial charge be (8-12 hours) or until it is full?

My mic works... but I get quite a lot (quite horrific!) of signal noise in the speaker - not the stereo ones mind.

the only thing i regrest ordering with Nokia Online Store is their aftersales service, which suck b4lls

mine probably 90% going to have the mic issues as well..

nuknuk, can you call up your nearest nokia store/nokia care point for a swap?

just hope they don't take 4 weeks for a replacement...

I still haven't received my package from UPS yet. Having read what some of you have said so far about the mic not working, I almost dont want it to arrive now...Godd@mnit! Can't Nokia do anything right these days?!?! :(

Also a little worried, but so far, being realistic it looks to be 3-5 people with mic problem, handful more with reboots, out of maybe 5,000 phones in public hands right now?

at end of day if mine is a dud, i will be annoyed, but that's why we get warranties/14days cooling off period etc

You'll look back on this and laugh when you're ringing Nokia to find out why your newly repaired phone killed your cat.

A few too many hardware horror stories for me on here... I've cancelled my order and will await new batches/firmware/year/model.

...out of the subset of those phones owned by users of this forum.

+1

please send us a phone thats fully baked nokia !

dont want an N97 episode again, this looks like its going the same way.
Seeing the randomness in the different shipments, I can belive megacrazy as well now, he might have got a faulty unit who knows !
Ive just begun to lose all interest in this device now, first with the release date fiasco now this. Android looks decades advanced now !

:(

have a vague recolection that Micky has pre-release FW running testing portrait mode etc, could this be a bug in that rather than current?

I'm seriously thinking of cancelling as well. It's becoming obvious that it's foolish to purchase a Nokia product before its track record for stability is established.

At this stage I'm thinking of going for an Android handset and waiting to see if/when Nokia gets its act together before purchasing another Nokia device.

I received mine at 9.30am this morning which is the time the UPS guy always delivers the UPS packages for me (give or take a few mins).

I've tested out:
WiFi
Skype Calling
Google Talk
Installing Applications
Web browsing
Using Nokia PC Suite
FM Transmitter
Speakerphone while on a call
Handsfree headset supplied while on call
My own bluetooth headset while on call
video recording/picture taking
multi-tasking + multi-tasking while on call

Everything thus far is working brilliantly out of the box.

The Nokia manual says the battery has already been partially charged and it says you do not need to charge it for a specific amount of time. I guess there is no first charge needed in this case..

I'm still rooting my way through all the features to get used to it all.. But so far, I'm off to a great start...

To add, the phone works perfectly fine with the Three sim card. It was reported before that it wouldn't.. in my case it is working fine. Internet settings were installed automatically by Three sending a few SMS messages with the settings..

Can I just confirm you're using firmware 1.2009.42?
Is your 3 simcard a PAYG or contract?

Ah. I meant on a device with a faulty mic.. Does the headset mic work when attached, even if the phone's mic appears to be broken

this is actually a good question... answer will tell weather its an hardware or software issue :/ (even tho both sucks lol but at least if it is software, nokia will come up with next firmware that would fix that)
