Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview
That's not good to hear....
Thanks for the info. Edit: DOes anyone have a working link to the AlienDalvik RPM for cm12.1? Just started editing the Wiki page and couldn't find a working link for the AD rpm... |

Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview
@mautz news on the wiki page?
Unfortunately after a drop my Nexus 5 has problems with mobile networks, I guess the antenna detached from the main board. I'm switching to a Jolla phone for a while, thinking if it's worth to buy an XA2. |
Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview
I'm still on it, but i am very busy at the moment.
I like the XA2 except for the size, Jolla Phone and Nexus5 were perfect for me. |
Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview
That's also my concern, I've also considered the X Compact but maybe it's better to go directly to a more recent model and hope it'll last long enough, my Nexus 5 lasted 3 years and a half "only".

The pro for the XA2 is the newer aliendalvik that helps to substitute apps with android ones where there is no native sailfish version. The pro for the Nexus 5 is the multiboot option which is priceless! However, if you need to use any video calling or banking apps than I suggest the XA2. On My Nexus 5 (because of the old aliendalvik) more and more android apps stopped/stops working. Use the websites instead of apps you'd say. Well, the native browser doesn't work well with many websites and the android version of Firefox crashes too often. (I have tried many other browser but some of them do not even install because of the old aliendalvik, others just crash often.) This is how I see and how I experienced it. |
Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview
@mautz
I hope you are doing well. Recently I am getting errors when I try to install/update something from Storeman. An example: Code:
File './armv7hl/droid-hal-version-hammerhead-0.0.1+master.20191129005653.28304d5-1.2.4.jolla.armv7h not found on medium 'http://repo.merproject.org/obs/home:/mautz:/cm12.1/sailfishos_3.2.1.20_latest/' Do you remember why the 1.2.4 was changed to 1.2.8? (When I disabled the "adaptation-community-hammerhead ... http://repo.merproject.org/obs/home:/mautz:/cm12.1/sailfishos_3.2.1.20_latest/" repo, the error was solved and I managed to install/upgrade packages from Storeman.) |
Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview
I updated some packages for 3.3, this is why there is a newer droid-hal.
Today 3.3.0.16 built all packages fine, so if someone is willing to test it, here are the repos for cm12.1: Code:

Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview
Hello there! I'm having the same issue as Innocence a few pages back where the boot process hangs at the Google logo and will not progress past that point.
Here is what I am doing: 1. Wiping everything in TWRP except for Internal Storage 2. Flashing the CM12 base (cm-12.1-20160704-UNOFFICIAL-hammerhead-nocheck.zip) 3. Flashing SFOS either in the TWRP zip queue or individually. 4. Rebooting I have tried several different versions including 3.3.0.16, 3.2.1.20, 3.2.0.12, and 2.0.4.13. Out of all of those the only one that works is 2.0.4.13. I have also tried several different TWRP versions as well as flashing back to the latest stock firmware and retrying, to no avail. Is there something I am missing? Any help would be appreciated! |
Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview
Is it normal for first boot to take over an hour? I installed 3.3.0.16 from page 79, installing the CM12.1 base then SFOS in TWRP. Initially I thought I screwed something up, so I tried again... and again... and again. Eventually I just left it and it finally booted after an hour and a half. I then selected my language and it got to the boot screen then went black. It took about 45 minutes after that point before I got impatient and hard reset it. It hasn't booted since.
EDIT: I have tried 3.3.0.16, 3.2.1.20, 3.2.0.12, and 2.0.4.13. Only 2.0.4.13 has worked (it booted instantly into the language screen, runs great), and OTAing from that version results in the same insanely long boot. I have also tried 4 other CM12.1 zips, one newer than the one in the first post, 3 older. All boot fine without Sailfish installed. EDIT 2: I have now tried 3 versions of TWRP (3.0.2-0, 3.0.0-0, and 2.8.5.0), and some CWM and Philz Touch recoveries I had saved somewhere. Absolutely no difference. Do you guys have any idea what could be the issue? Am I just SOL? |

Please double-check the following:
OTA from 2.0.4.13 to any newer version I am not sure that works. When you upgraded, did you follow the instruction from here? (I just have upgraded (OTA) my 3.2.1.20 installation to 3.3.016 following this instruction and using the new repos from this post. So far seemingly everything works.) |

I can confirm that the repos work fine. I just have OTAd to 3.3.0.16 and all looks ok. Thank you for your support! |

I am indeed using the CM12.1 from the first post. I also just tried using TWRP 2.8.7 to flash, there has been no change. And to answer your question about the OTA, I did follow the steps from that post. It simply resulted in the same issue I am having with just flashing. I have tried the CM13 version and it works a treat, though I would much rather use this one due to its Alien Dalvik support. |
Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview
I have the same problem although i remember having installed SFOS on a Nexus 5 before. So at least you´re not alone.

I don't know what the reason can be because I have been using this rom since December 2019 and just have OTAd 3.2.1.20 to 3.3.016 without any problem. Are you using SFOS on your Nexus 5 as main or a secondary rom with multirom? |

Should I perhaps try using it in a multirom setup? Also, are there any sort of logs we could pull from our devices that could potentially help solve this? |

If you can and will, please try to install it with multirom. (Multirom has many benefits, I think.) If this doesn't work in multirom either, I think there should be something wrong with the device itself. I am unaware of how we can track these down. Probably dmesg and journalctl can give you more about the issues but I am not really good at fixing issues by those logs (well, it depends on the issue). However, if you post some logs here (copy them into pastebin or somewhere else and only post the url here), probably there will be somebody who can help you out. |

I'm wondering if somehow, though I personally think it is rather unlikely, there is some small hardware difference between the US and International versions of the phone causing this issue? Thank you for helping though, in the meantime I will work on getting those logs, if I can. |
Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview
Same here. CM13 works like a charm, CM12.1 does not. And I'm in Europe so that's not the reason either. Well, I still have my Jolla1 but then even the old Nexus5 would mean a real speed boost, I suppose.

I have previously booted it to the setup screen where it asks you to setup your PIN, but the system runs as slowly as the boot process, it literally takes like 40 minutes to go past a single menu. I'm gonna leave my phone for a few hours to hopefully boot to at least the language screen again, then I'll see about getting some logs. |
Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview
I'll give it another try when I return from holidays. Maybe there was a change in file systems from 12.1 to 13? I seem to remember some older Android system not booting either. But then ext4 shouldn't be a problem.

It worth a try to not just factory resetting the phone but do format the data in TWRP. (However, do a backup first as it will wipe your data!!) |

But the boot issue still persists. I have also done as you suggested, formatting the data separately from the factory reset, but it hasn't made any difference. I even tried repairing and switching to f2fs and back to ext4, but nothing has helped. Quote:
EDIT: The device seems to no longer boot into CM12.1 SFOS at all, I left it for about 8 hours and the only thing that happened was the LED came on. Out of sheer curiosity, I flashed CM13 SFOS over the CM12.1 base and it surprisingly showed more signs of life than the CM12.1 SFOS, in the form of vibrations and the LEDs going on and then dim like on the Ahoy screen and the red shutdown LED. |

Please do not flash an SFOS over another one because the outcome will be unpredicted and it won't work properly at all. It seems you need to use the CM13.0 based version, rather than this one. I am puzzled what the reason can be. What I can still think of some hardware issue that didn't affect the older version and the newer android base, but I am just guessing here. Edit: That "failed to mount" message is not a problem, I am getting that too. It is just saying that the /data partition cannot be mounted because it is already attached. |
Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview
I've installed edp17 version twice without any issues on my Nexus 5 16GB version with multirom and used until two months ago because the cellular antenna broke.
It is a really nice build where everything works except video recording and Bluetooth calls (android support too, without camera support). So, it seems really strange that you can't manage to install it. What's the android rom you are using as primary? CM 12.1 same as the one used for Sailfish base? |

That android support is my main reason for trying so hard to get this to work, I need that working so the CM13 version is not a viable option for me. I may just end up back on 2.0.4.13, even though I would much rather have something newer. I have reset back to three different stock firmwares, I have tried several versions of TWRP, I have tried MultiROM, I have tried Philz Touch and CWM recoveries, I have even resorted to trying other CM12.1 versions, some older, some newer. Nothing has gotten it anywhere and it's only these 3.x.x CM12.1 versions that are affected. I am stumped. |

1. Reset phone with stock rom and no multirom 2. Install TWRP multirom specific for Sailfish (now you should have multirom installed and the main Android rom working) 3. Flash Sailfish 3 with CM12.1 base |

Works here after I installed CM13 as main, installed Multirom via app and then installed CM12.1+SFOS as secondary.

Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview
Just thought I'd update you guys, I just gave it another shot after giving up a couple months ago, and this time using the same combo of CM13 main and CM12.1 based SFOS 3.3 did, in fact, work. As of now I am unsure why it was not working properly when I tried previously, and as far as I know I didn't do anything differently. One thing I'd like to note is my camera and flash are non-functional in this version, but I'm honestly just glad to finally have it running. Once again, thanks for your help! :D

Re: SailfishOS 2.0 Nexus 5 CM12.1 Alpha1 | Sfdroid Pre-Alpha/Early Preview
Edit 02/11/2020: I removed this download as there is a new one. See my next post! :D
I have created an SFOS 3.4.0.24 build for the hammerhead. Everything works out of the box except two things:
The vibra can be fixed with the following (I'll include this into a later build):
Regarding the AD, I don't know what and how to fix. So if anybody could fix it and post how to do it, that would be highly appreciated. I have a feeling the AD issue is related to the new multiuser support. As the default user, nemo is changed to defaultuser. I guess the AD is modifed to work with user nemo, but as the user is not nemo anymore, it doesn't work. Anyway, happy testing and let me know if you found any issues. Note: This is the latest Storeman that can be installed on 3.4. Edit: Sensors do not work as I forgot to downgrade sensorfw to 0.11.9. I'm creating a second build where I include all the above. Hang on. |
