I think if they can snap up 4-5% of the market there doing amazingly well.

Of what market? And from whom?

They might be able to do that in Finland but not in the rest of the world.

I'm not even sure about that.

Which part?

To elaborate: I'm not even sure they could pull it off in Finland.

...reminds me a bit of Commodore days; their strange (non-) communication/secrecy vs. some stupid/non-existant marketing.

For once I agree :(

I heard WP has 50% of the market in finland.

What Jolla could had hope is those people who was angry at Nokia and still has Symbian phones. But those people has probadly give up this days and gone to MicroNokia or Samsung.

So they'r back on route 1. Being as small player as Maemo was at Nokia with N900.

But can they survive on that? Can they continue development with next gen device with the money they get on first phone?

Thats way more important question for me. Because if they can they may get bigger later.

There is people who are sick of Android dominance. And as already stated europe needs a phone company and also more "dotnet companys". The weeks news about USA:s monitoring of people make me more sure about that....

For no particular reason, that's all he's good for, unfortunately...
But, why do you care? Aren't you the guy that gave up on the promise of desktop Linux/FOSS making the transition to embedded/mobile years go?
Aren't you the guy who thinks Android only is more than good enough?

Me? I'm not following you everywhere, just pointing out the obvious, a thread becomes live, it looks interesting initially, only to find that [once again] it's some vacuous post of yours.
It kills interesting dialogue, that's just the reality that's being pointed out, I'm not the only one to raise it, it's nothing personal, but it is something you have to be made aware of.

I'd thank you, but there's no thanks in this sub-forum... ;-) N.B. you are great comic relief sometimes, but that's very rarely, content is more interesting/relevant/respectful.
