oh, and btw guys the issue with the ASUI is fixed for me, that "pattern" was just the redraw of the screen when the ASUI's opening screen scrolls from the bottom to the top, was very slow inteed the first time. On the second time (after installed DT) the scroll was smooth -but I did not like it, so I disabled and have the instant ASUI screen. Indeed a friggin useful util, esp the PIN unlock buttons way bigger.

I am bit out of topic, but as you mention it, is there any way to bypass the ASUI's charging screen and use the Nokia's one?
I changed the symlink /etc/rc5.d/S26advanced-systemui-early to /etc/rc5.d/S26osso-systemui-early (symlink to /etc/init.d/osso-systemui-early of course) but still (after boot + charge cable connected) the N800 goes to ASUI's charge screen.
The reason is that the backlight -while on ASUI charging screen stays on (even a little), so I prefer Nokia's charge screen.

No, ASUI replaces and pretends to be systemui, having both running together would cause issues. I also can't add a feature to blank the screen or adjust backlight while in charging because the screen flex cable in my n810 broke and I've been too lazy to find another one to fix it. That and one or two of the screws in the screen are damaged and I couldn't get them out. :(

oh darn.. I hate stripped screws, did you try the superglue method? Just a bit of superglue on the screw's head then set the screwdriver into the screw head and wait the glue to dry, other option screw extracting pliers, depends the type of the screw.
Alternative, if you can spot the damage on the flexcable: conductive paint (bit hit-or-miss solution)

Finding damage on the cable would have been too easy. There is no way pliers could remove the screws, but I might have to try superglue.
