Yeah, that's it. When I deleted it before, I thought it was still seeing deleted files,
but now I think it must be finding all the sound files in KDE.
Really would be most helpful to use the file name in the case of no tags.

Searching is really useful, you can isolate an album.
Doesn't work for my repeat track needs, though.
I have a bunch of tones. I need to be able to select one,
and then have it play over and over until I select another one.
I use this technique to identify feedback frequencies in sound systems.

YouAmp's interface is perfect for it.
Nice big finger-friendly buttons, a good scroller, and volume slider on screen.
Just needs repeat track.

hmm.. I dont think the reapeat-one-track functionality deserves a button in the UI. But if you want I could put together a version for you, since the change is trivial.
Would it be ok, if it would default to repeating and only change tracks on next/ prev button press?

That would be quite useful to me. I thank you for your time.

Only if you got it from the the garage page you actually got 0.2.1. This is fixed now. Sorry for the inconvenience.

as a compensation there is a small update for both youamp and mutagen:

* YouAmp 0.2.2 does not index the Maps ogg on the N810
* Both Mutagen and YouAmp dont ship the Python sources in order to keep size down anymore

Madman: I want to give YouAmp another try, and have downloaded and installed your latest YouAmp 0.2.1 and Mutagen files. However, even though YouAmp is listed in my Applications Manager as being installed and shows up in my Extras menu, when I click on it, nothing happens. The screen reverts to the home screen. So, it seems not to be a matter of merely a slow scanning of my mp3 files; there's no basic YouAmp screen to even indicate that the application is scanning. Any thoughts on what's happening? Thanks and regards.

Pauljohn: In Madman's posting above of 1/21, I thought he reported that he'd solved that problem in his newer release. I don't think that I'm even getting as far as the application even trying a scan, so a faulty mp3 tag shouldn't be my problem. Thanks anyway for your joining in on this.

it would be nevertheless useful if you could run it from the terminal, since it would tell us why it crashed. (and whether it was a bad mp3 tag)

special version for dubwise attached.

  File "debian/youamp/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/youamp/ui/main.py", line 16, in <module>
  File "debian/youamp/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/youamp/config.py", line 4, in <module>
ImportError: No module named gnome.gconf

Madman: I'm embarassed to ask this question, 'cause it's something I should know. What's the exact command line to enter to try to start YouAmp from xterm? Thanks.

Re: YouAmp - yet another Music player for Maemo

You should just need to enter "youamp-player" (without the quotes) in the terminal window. I just double checked and it worked for me.
