i tried to use the 775 number with gizmo and n800. i thought the problem was that there is no way to press 1 to answer the phone when there is an incoming call. it worked on my laptop fine. my solution was to just register my gizmo number with another free one

Here is some additional information. I never gave Gizmo a credit card number because I unwilling to allow them to charge it whenever they wish. I had used PayPal to buy things at Gizmo. Gizmo stopped taking PayPal payments now. I suspect it may have something to do with "free Area775's" $2 per dual-ring call fee. The details behind why Gizmo stopped taking PayPal are a secret (Gizmo's choice). Many people have inquired in the Official Gizmo Forum only to be snubbed. It is clear that Gizmo insists on getting your credit card number on file.

Gizmo can do what they want as far as having all these little tricks in place to make money, but it doesn't change the fact that is seedy praying on people with "challenged" abilities in society. The ACF (all calls free) thing and free Area775 are both examples of this type of conduct.

Now that I see Gizmo stopped accepting PayPal and is pressuring people to submit credit cards to be kept on file at Gizmo my recommendation would be to use them only for SIP to SIP, or PSTN to SIP-in using one of the 20 PSTN access numbers that I linked to earlier in this thread.

I had been considering buying more services from Gizmo, but I am reconsidering that at this time.

Micheal Robertson, if you are reading this, I ask that you stop with the sleazy marketing. Saying things are free in colorful web pages, then putting multiple conditions on them, forcing people to give you credit card numbers, and saying you can charge the credit cards in fine print if someone loses ACF over time or carelessly / mistakenly picks up a landline or mobile during dual ring in free Area775 is borderline fraud. You are praying on people's ignorance. That is predatory.

I opened an account with IPKall, get WA number and registered my SIP phone that I've got from Gizmo (747) . I'm trying to setup native N800 client to accept calls to WA number. Unfortunately, it is not clear at all how should I do this.
What should I put as outgoing proxy there? proxy01.sipphone.com or fwd.pulver.com(from IPKall?)
What should I use as a username? My SIP number @ proxy01.sipphone.com or my SIP number @ fwd.pulver.com ?
What is a port number?
What are STUN settings?
Looks like I am missing something important here - it must be obvious, but it is apparently not :)

Point your IPKall PSTN number to your Gizmo SIP number (747-xxx-xxxx) and run the Gizmo soft client on the N800. Call your IPkall PSTN number from a POTS phone and your N800 should ring. Click answer on the N800 and you should be connected. It works for me.

Can you check my settings?

In Native OS2008 SIP client I have :
1747xxxxxx@proxy01.sipphone.com as a UserName
My Gismo password as a password ( I can login to my account on gismoproject.com with these credentials)
Under Advanced button - on the Connection tab I have:
Transport -Auto
Outgoing proxy - fwd.pulver.com - came from IPKall
Port 5060
Discover public address - checked
Keep-alive mechanism - Auto
Keep-alive frequency 0

Authentication tab
Authentication user name - blank
Password blank
(Not sure what should I put here)

On STUN tab
Auto-detect STUN - checked


The first problem I have - my account can't go online.

Hmm... to the username field you should put only your SIP number? the proxy01.sipphone.com goes after the @ mark. (Maybe you have it right... but just to make sure.)

EDIT: Outgoing proxy field should be empty: You would fill this in IF you had proxy server in your own network.

I do not use automatic STUN. I did set it up manually (stun01.sipphone.com, port 3478).

That's how I have configured mine and it works.

One more note: If I have connected to Gizmo server with my PC Gizmo client at the same time (using same user name), the N800 will not be able to register.

Yes, my username is my SIP number, then @proxy01.sipphone.com
What do you have as an outcoming proxy? proxy01.sipphone.com or fwd.pulver.com?
I can connect to my account only if I have proxy01 as my outgoing proxy, even though IPKall shows fwd.pulver.com as a proper proxy for my account.
Again, I've got busy signal when I call my IPKall number from a landline.
I use proxy01 for STUN too. That's the only way it can connect to the network.

My outgoung proxy field is empty.

The STUN server should be stun01.sipphone.com.

When you want the IPKall to forward the call to your sipphone account you need to put the proxy01.sipphone.com into the IPKall settings... the fwd.pulver.com is just an example.
