Same problem. Voted for bug.
Hopefully will get fixed soon, especially since it's the default mail client right now.

Same problem here.

The old email app works perfectly before the Diablo update. Now if I leave the email running and retrieving emails in the background, the OS will pop up the "Internal error. Application 'E-mail' closed." error message.

On top of that, the new mail app, Modest, does not let the user remove emails from POP3 server when the option "Leave Message on Server" is set. Even user manually delete it from the inbox!
