Re: Buying N810 in Canada?
"Thank you for e-mailing the Nokia Care Contact Centre.
The pricing on www.nokia.ca is competitive to the pricing of other retailers in Canada. Pricing may also vary between retailers. Nokia is glad to hear that you were able to locate a Nokia N810 Internet Tablet at a more affordable price." ... do companies realize fill-in-the-blank form emails are infuriating? A $125 dollar discrepancy is *not* competitive pricing. Sarah: I got my sister a Power Monkey, which is about half the size of a RedBull can (and a little smaller in diameter). While I don't know if it will charge the battery completely, after the PM charges via wall plug it'll keep any of her mobile devices going. Right now she's using it on her cell phone and N800 and it doesn't take up a lot of space. My N810 rarely leaves the house, or a wall socket's within reach so I'm aces. |

(And for the record, there might not be a brick and mortar store in the GTA selling tablet specific equipment... but if my online store is located in the GTA and specializes in unique tablet products such as OTG adapters, speaky-mikey adapters, etc doesn't that count?? ;-) ) -Rob |

Re: Buying N810 in Canada?
Hedgecore you wouldn't believe the canned responses I got when I quested Nokia Canada about buying a n810 before they reopened this webstore.
They told me things like if I wanted to buy a cell phone I should contact Bell Mobility. I must have filled out 20 or so of their "Customer Service Satisfaction" surveys. Everyone I told them the copy and paste attitude they have to customer support is horrible. |

http://www.electronicproductonline.c...hp?cPath=35_67 I actually just started talking to Boxwave yesterday about bringing in some screen protectors, though I'm waiting to hear back as the pricing they offer resellers doesn't seem to be very competitive compared to what they offer end users... (I'm not going to bring in a whole batch of them just to find that nobody wants to take them since they're not any cheaper than going to boxwave direct) |
Re: Buying N810 in Canada?
Rob,
Oh, I know they're selling... but what I meant is I've rarely seen them in the wild. Before I started working from home I'd seen two tablets on the subway and a 770 being used as an mp3 player by someone walking down the street... otherwise my sister has an N800 and a guy at work got a 770. Me thinks they live in peoples' homes more often than naught up here because of the ridiculous tethered data fees we enjoy. Seriously, if they capped at 6GB for iPhones at 30 bucks, why not give me tethered data at the same rate? |

Eg: http://www.howardforums.com/showpost...&postcount=755 That particular plan requires a 3 year lock-in though. Rogers have their 'unlimited on-device browsing' plans that can't be used for tethering, and for a short while, those were the only plans they talked about. They've introduced more with the introduction of the iphone. |

On the other hand, it is only in the last couple of months that Rogers has offered data plans that aren't ridiculous. I guess this has resulted in tons of new usage - so the speed and reliability of their 3G network has gone way down. |
Re: Buying N810 in Canada?
I'm now waiting for our provincial CDMA provider (MTS) to catch up on pricing. Right now they charge $20 for 2mb/mo(yes, that's mb, *NOT* gb).
