Re: n800's brother in china
If it came in English I would replace my N800 with it.

Wonder if you can change the Language it uses if you got one. Anyone seen a place to buy it?

VGA, even! That is some sweet hardware.
Software-wise, it's not straight-up Maemo, but I'd bet the theme at least is derivative... (you know, the part that's not open). But the weirdness maxes out with Word and Excel. Why don't we have those! (Somehow I think those names are also appropriated without regard to trademarks, and applied to some generic word processor and spreadsheet.) |
Re: n800's brother in china
I've never even heard of that processor type.
How much does this thing cost? |
Re: n800's brother in china
The processor is a Marvell PXA3xx (guessing, it could be a pxa27x but that's a bit older processor). It's an ARM Xscale. http://www.marvell.com/products/cell...plications.jsp

Re: n800's brother in china
I wouldn't mind having a Chinese UI. The dictionary is not far away. :)
Well, Shan Zhai Ji (Mountain Bandit Device) is certainly not the name of the device. It's a term for unauthorized cell-phone-clones manufactured in China. Of course the device is a Shan Zhai Ji in some way, but that's not its name. |
Re: n800's brother in china
Wow, that device looks really cool! :D
It looks like they are using a modified version of hildon allong with possibly a ubuntu-mid base... If that device's operating system is open-sorce, mabe we could somehow port that desktop to Mer.... or even maemo. :) |
Re: n800's brother in china
This is the article about the device. Maybe Google translate can help. :D

It runs maemosweeper. Looks like it's maemo-compatible.
