I'll take a wild guess :p and figure '/usr/share/icons/hicolor/icon-theme.cache' has something to do with it but what, I don't know.

Why does emelfm2 concern itself with '/usr/share/icons/hicolor/icon-theme.cache' all of a sudden?

Not sure what's going on with that, my first guess would have been to try what BrentDC recommended. I dont get those messages but i get maybe 3 gtk sizing issue warnings which are normal.

40 times huh... sounds like maybe the button icons? Does emelfm2's toolbars look ok?

Sorry hard to tell with this, maybe a corrupt icon-theme.cache file? Mine is around 8 megs, last updated a week ago and has permissions rw-r--r-- and owned by root. You could see if anything looks weird with your copy.
