But, it has no keyboard, no dpad/directional-arrow-keys, and no OS that I'd ever willingly use. That's 3 VERY LARGE strikes against it. |
Re: HTC Leo
You know... looking at this picture:
http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget....leak-top-1.jpg And seeing that the LEO has a 4.3" screen, the HTC Touch Pro 2 (on the right) has a 3.6" screen ... sure, you can see the difference, but it's not horribly different. Just noticeably different. (and they're both 800x480, as well) Then, add knowing that the N900 has a 3.5" screen, and my G1 has a 3.2" screen (which is only 480x320) ... I'm not sure I'm really going to be that bothed by the N900's screen size. It's not going to be my ideal, certainly ... but bigger than my G1, and not horrendously smaller than the Leo, and barely smaller than the Touch Pro 2. Not ideal, but liveable. |
Re: HTC Leo
simple question,
is it IMPOSSIBLE to install Maemo 5 on the HTC Leo? Seeing how hardcore the XDA community is, I can certainly see it happening (if Maemo makes it possible) Can you imagine what this would mean? The Leo would make the most perfect(to date) mobile computer. The hardware is on another level than the n900. |
Re: HTC Leo
You're more likely to see Android ported to the Leo (by people like the XDA hackers) than Maemo. I could be wrong, but I would expect that there are enough hardware differences that Maemo wouldn't "just run". And I have no idea how hard it would be to get Mer running on it.
(and, while Maemo on more devices would be cool, the Leo still lacks a physical keyboard and a dpad) |

And the only "open Maemo" project/group/team that I'm aware of is Mer ... which isn't Maemo 5, and I bet it'll be a while before they (the Mer team) have the resources to start tackling things like other phones. That pretty much exhausts your groups of people who would fit your "they". Who else would be porting Maemo (any version) to an HTC phone? |
