DFW Open Source Software group (not the same as Dallas Open Source Saturday but some membership overlap) is inviting everyone to a seminar on Content Management Systems at the Dallas Marriot Quorum hotel, 10 February at 11:30 AM CST. Details in the link below:

I would love to attend but doubt I can. There is a cost of $15 involved, but I have not found details yet on what that covers. I will update the thread once I do.

DFW Pythoneers has a coding session planned for January 23! Sorry for the short notice. Details:

For this event we're going to meet at the new company|dallas office facilities. They offer coworking space with lots of amenities we need like WiFi, whiteboards and lots of seating space. But don't worry that you'll have to drive far, it's just down the street from Nerdbooks on Collins Blvd.

While the regular meeting presentation will start at the usual 2pm, the doors will open at 1pm and several people are planning on doing some sprinting. One time we sprinted on game design using Pyglet and some are interested in a group exploration into the Google App Engine. The actual topics depend on who shows up with what interests.

Food is permitted so feel free to bring in your lunch and come join us in some collaborative programming!
A beginners session is included!

I'm trying to make it!

:/ Can't do this one, swapping a car engine this weekend.
Eventually I hope to actually make it to one.

I feel your pain. If I don't get too sick I have brake work to do... and it will be major thanks to a relative who borrowed my car.

Maybe next month.

Reporting in as a N900 user as well in the Dallas area. I stay south of downtown and i know hardly anything about programming or developing lol however thats kind of what i am here for. its to learn what capabilities my device has =).

do we have to sign in to an account to some of these gatherings? btw that restaurant thats opening up sounds like a great place to start meetings. just saying.

See the links for the various meetups; I recommend creating an account at meetup.com and joining the groups that interest you.

There will also be some maemo.org meetups... that's under development. And I do need to follow up about the restaurant...
