Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth
Does not work.
After verifying the Microsoft Genuine Disadvantage the installation stops because "Processor is not supported" (an AMDv140). |

Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth
I've bought a Win 7 laptop, & can't connect via BT to my N900 (my old XP laptop would).
What is interesting is that after going through the sequence above, the N900 still shows in the list of BT device, but as having a problem: missing the BT peripheral device driver. Under operations for the Device, it has Listen to audio from your computer (N900) through this computer's speakers Use the computer as a headset or speakerphone for calls on your computer (N900) Backup contacts & calendar information from your computer (N900) Restore backed-up contacts & calendar information to your computer (N900) The first 2 options have Connect buttons, the 2nd two are greyed out. when trying the first one, a little player labeled in the taskbar as "Remote Control N900" comes up but seems to do nothing. Are those functions available on the N900? Or has the driver for some other phone been installed? |

Oops, I could have just used a screen shot.
Is this what other folks get when they pair the N900 with a W7 computer? |
Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth
yup...that's about right....
and not just for the n900...n800 too. Haven't tried the n810 on win7 bluetooth yet. But I imagine it will sum itself up the same. On XP I don't believe I had a prob with bluetooth. Best suggestion would be to use admin rights...compat settings and install proprietary drivers for xp or vista (vista may be more compat with win7 os...shouldn't be too bad tho. with xp drivers) and jimmy the win 7 to see and utilize your n900 bluetooth. I just finished working some mitey serious magic jimmying win7 onto my toshiba portege m200...the real stunt (as if installing without an optical...proper usb support of any compatible kind ...excepting very rare and old optical drives...sd card hurdles...or even ripping out the hard drive and attempting to install win 7 from a pata to a pata...rather PITA hehehee...shame on toshiba for making this so awkward and difficult...even to simply reinstall xp...but without suffering a brain aneurism from having to think..."durn you toshiba for having to make me use my brain!"...as I shake my fist....I laugh bout it now...but it was a challenge I must say ...and took me long enough to figure it out) was finding drivers to replace toshiba's m200 drivers which are ancient and xp tablet edition specific...hunted high and low and surprisingly hp sd card drivers...and many drivers if not for vista but as well for the portege m400 worked beautifully without any radioactive melting...or high pitched screaming and then exploding. Works like a dream ...in fact. Faster ...better... smoother than xp tablet. So if my frankendriver experiment worked I'm sure using a single compatible xp or vista driver to enable n900 to connect via bluetooth should be no prob. When I get enough time I'll mess with the drivers on one of my laptops and get back with results. |
Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth
I've been having problems with the USB driver for my N900 in my W7 x64 laptop lately.
Finally I got it working by telling Nokia Suite to install its own drivers for the N900. Maybe there's a chance for BT to start to work using this method. Regards. |
Re: Win 7 drivers for Bluetooth
It was a good shot, but installing Nokia Suite doesn't seem to have brought the correct BT drivers with it.
