where are you guys both from?

I'm UK and haven't received anything like that... checked update manager earlier today and couldn't see anything either...

I've done so already. But for example when pr1.1 got released other people in some countries saw the update while others didn't. So, there could be an update available although you can't see it in Application Manager. And sometimes different distribution channels work a bit different times.

doesn't the messages from Nokia state a version number or any clue at all?
and did you instal 1.1?

Same mail and sms in Spain... didn't try with PC software. May be an issue with ovi accounts? I registered after updating to .51

I installed the 1.1 about two weeks ago when it was released. The messages had no clues whatsoever... :/

I registered to Ovi way before the N900... and updated my Ovi account's device to N900 quite quickly after receiving my phone 4.12.

I used to get this with previous S60 phones. The texts were not in any way linked to the device.
