Re: Commercial ebook reader
Thanks for your info. I am not as up on Linux stuff like I should be. I go to the site to download the book properly as far as I know. I go to Fictionwise and you can download in different foramats and I pick .epub. The zip file is what it downloads to my PC. Do I need to make a new folder and put the contents of the ziped file in that new folder and install it on my N900???? I know these are probably basic to you but learing Linux it is not quite as basic ot some of us. When you said add that comment to the library not sure where to put it. I probaably need to talk off this listserv so that I don't bore others.
Thanks, Bobby |

Then start the Dorian application, tap on the icon that looks like a little house  and you're in the 'Library' part. Then tap 'Add book', and locate the directory on the N900 where you stored the downloaded file. Tap the file, and it'll get added to the library. You can then tap on the book, and see its details - and pick "Read" or "Delete". Personally I'd install FBReader and get the pain over with ... :) |
Re: Commercial ebook reader
Thanks Tina. I am going to try it again. I do have some things working now on fbreader. I will get with it on Dorian.
Thanks, Bobby |

If you're trying to copy them over from a PC, ~/MyDocs will be the root directory of the virtual drive in Mass Storage mode, or the Data directory in PC Suite mode. /media/mmc1 is the microSD card. So you should just need to create the Books directory and copy the files over. The version of FBReader in extras-testing or extras-devel also has an "Add book" option in the menu, allowing you to add books from anywhere on the device. Hopefully that'll be promoted to the main repository shortly. |
Re: Commercial ebook reader
Thanks Rob. That is what I was looking for some help in getting some kind of "instructions" to help me. I would imagine others if they would ask would need this too.
I keep seeing the extras testing and development---where do I find those please???? I find all the programs in the add programs area there are many of them there for all kinds of things but I don't know where those other two extras are. Thanks, Bobby Thanks, Bob |

Once you've enabled the repositories, then any applications will show up in app manager as normal. |
