If you are really serious about this, then it seems it would make a half decent netbook replacement - but don't even think about complaining that it's slow!

You can get a foldable keyboard (I have one made by iGo - but never used it!), and a bluetooth mouse quite cheap and tv-out cable ofcourse.

Don't expect it to all just 'work', you will have to mess around with it.

To get a video converter application try installing easy debian and install a linux video converter - it will do the job but probably only from command line.

I can live with slow speed. Thats not the issue. Since you mentioned Debian. I have installed Debian.

I have no clue how to install software on Debian.. I tried to install iplayer on Debian. Did not work. Then tried to update the flash on the browser again did not work.

Can you show me how to install a software on Debian. Once I understand how to install then surely I can dig up many software's and install them without any help. To get to that stage I need help in the process on installing on Debian.

Thanks

Yeah, ok, so now I am hauling the 900 + a keyboard and a mouse and I'm looking for a TV to use as a display? I could have just brought my netbook ;)

You need something like this then:

Except the RedFly starts at $200 and I can get the MSI Wind U100-018US at NewEgg for only $250 with a Intel Atom N270 1.60GHz CPU, 1024 x 600 resolution, 1GB RAM and a 160GB HDD. I'll say it again, if you are willing to sacrifice the size of the N900 to hook it to a keyboard and screen - buy a netbook. The N900 is for use out of a pocket.
