Thx for the reply anyway. yeah. i understand what you were trying to say. i kinda figure that out because the skype version in x-series for 3 is different compared to Fring, iskoot or n900 prebuilt version of skype. the one from 3 only allow to make x-series to computer call but not x-series to landline or mobile. sounds like 3 wont be making a n900 version of skype anyway. well, my contract is almost over with 3 anyway. the reason i am trying to avoid to pay for the data pack to 3 in Australia here because 3 is pretty bad here. i stuck with my skype contract for 15 months already. i live in metro area in Sydney here. in accordance with 3, i have pretty good signal, but most of the time my phone peggy back on to other netowrk instead of 3. then my phone go onto roaming and i cannot use skype at all. i dont know about in europe but certainly in australia if your 3 cell phone going onto roaming, you will not able to make and receive any skype call or message at all. i dont want to go sign up with 3 with the datapack and they turn around ooo we are sorry your area has bad signal. thats what they told me anyway about the skype i have after i signed the contract, and i stuck with the contract for 24 months. i mean i am in the city area if they dont even have good signal within the city area. i cant imagine the city living outside the city.

Hi mate i was reading your posts and i realized that you are the best person who could give me some advice. I'm currently on 3 mobile Australia and i want to buy a N900.

So now i already know that 3Mobile's customized skype is not available for N900. Anyway have you Fig out a way to use unlimited skype over GPRS/3G yet?

I already have a internet pack ($8 per month 500MB) with 3mobile. So will i be able to use that 500MB of data included in my plan??

Could you please post 3Mobile GPRS settings for N900, where i can connect to planet 3 and able to use my 500MB data.??

Final question
Is there anything that i should know about when i am out of the 3mobiles coverage ( regarding roaming [not international roaming though])

THANX IN ADVANCE.
Cheers

If you want to use 3 skype mins like I have, DO NOT buy N900. It will not work in N900 at all. The only way you can use their skype plan with N900 is sign up with the datapack, but by using skype with their datapack, you better have a huge data allowance because skype use up lots of data with voice

About the GPRS connection for Planet 3, if you go to internet connection under settings in N900, you will see GPRS connection. I think you need to type in 3netaccess in Service name than UserName and Password.

About your coverage, it depends on where you are. I was driving to Canberra once from Sydney. The signal was all gone once when my car was an hour out of Sydney. Sometimes I was able to pickup Telstra signal but it was pretty weak signal. When there is no signal, nothing you can do about it. Someone from this forum corrects me if I am wrong about the follow:

If your phone pegged on other network instead of 3, you will not be able to use skype or your datapack at all. If you are within the city area, what you can do is going into your network settings and try to choose the network manually, instead of letting your phone choose it automatically. thats how i used to do it with my Nokia E71 and it worked. I am living within the city area as well. sometimes my Nokia E71 switches itself to roaming instead of using 3 even i have good signal on my phone.

but like i said, if you want to use skype with 3, dont get N900. get a Sybiam Nokia instead.

I agree, if you are with 3 and have their datapack then your skype will consume the datapack limit and will not work as it does on Symbion based phone such as 5800.

Also, email on three will not work and your data limit will be consumed for using emails accounts such as yahoo or hotmail..

you need to call 3 support to get planet three on your mobile, they will sms you setup instructions and tell you the code on phone,

dont even consider using datapack outside of 3 network, it can cost you dearly, only use when the signal says 3.5g.

also, some of the included stuff in 3's pack does not work on 900.
Go for Symboin phone if you want to use all the 3 features.

hmpf... the planet3 stuff is just another web site.
i went into a local 3 store here in ireland and ask them what i could do to use skype. they told me just start your phone and access planet three. i tried but only a proper 3 side was shown... so the sales clerk really ask me if i have a broadband SIM in my phone because i got the wrong page shown. so i checked out there local phones and voila it's just the page you are loading... anyway the same stuff applies to facebook and all the other pages they offer... only via there specific software.

and since the browser send out the wrong type of signature it is also blocked from the normal mobile surfing package and you really have to buy a mobile broadband package :-(
