Sort of regret getting it because im no hacker, or publisher. Wasnt much information flying at the time about it being a 'hackers paradise' which makes life difficult for me.

Problem with MPD, is that once the box is opened your pretty much tied into the contract, unlike other outlets.

Glad i still have my iPhone unlocked to hotswap the SIM!

can you explain how you hotswap a sim ? especially on a iphone.

Carphone Warehouse, on O2 PAYG was £430. Had to try two stores. The first said they only had it on contract. I like the top up £10 and get "unlimited" internet for a month - far more use to me than lots of texts or free calls to a number.

Once my iPhone contract ended I was able to unlock the phone for free (you have to pay £15 to unlock the phone if PAYG). Once unlocked, I can put any network SIM card into the phone. SO, I can therefore put my Nokia N900 VODAFONE Sim into the iPhone as and when I choose.

oh right but thats not hot swapping - Hot swapping is used whenever it is desirable to change the configuration or repair a working system without interrupting its operation. It may simply be for convenience, to avoid the delay and nuisance of shutting down and then restarting complex equipment, or because it is essential that the equipment be permanently available.

thats something you can do on some phones with the memory card. taking it out when phone is still turned on thought i would let you know that.

Carphone Warehouse, in January. £49 up front, and £25 a month for 2 years, for 500 texts, 600 mins (or is it 900?) and unlimited internet. Not gone over any of my limits yet, and I hammered it in the first month.
That was the cheapest deal for me. It was £30 a month in store, £25 online...
At £500 new for a phone, I reckon I am only paying £150 for a 2 year unlimited internet contract, which I can also run my laptop through via tethering :D

I am on T-mobile contract with 100 mins/100 Texts and Web 'n' Walk Plus for £5 a month.

CeX (£272 - £395 depending on condition and operator) and the Simplicity (or existing) SIM of your choice.
Even cheaper if you have something to trade against it.
