I never started all this crap, but i guess this is how members of the Maemo community treat new members?? Having a bricked phone and trying to find solutions to fix it for HOURS is bad enough as it is, but it makes it worse when people start giving ******** replies and troll someone else's topic.

People are being helpful to start with, regardless of the fact that the words you've chosen makes us feel like military commands from a big boss (e.g. look at your subject). Some people might just respond to you with the same manner as you've expressed in your responses, some might just ignore you. So before you blame people being rude or not helpful, look back.

Say, the nice guy at #4 has already asked the right question, which you bluntly ignored. You don't really need to be very humble to get help. Had you answered the questions in #4 telling him which version of Windows you're using, it'd have been saving you a lot of time.

Look, there're tons of topics i've searched and read already and not many of them mentioned it's a problem due to Windows 7 x64 driver conflicts. When you have a bricked phone and tried finding for solutions and searching the internet for hours, you can easily miss a few things here and there. Especially if you have to read through 5 or 6 topics that either give no solutions to your problems, or that you have to read a huge post that spans across like 4 pages (aka the Wiki on updating the firmware).
It's because you overlooked the large section of N900: Windows 64bit (Vista&7) in the wiki that you must first refer to(http://wiki.maemo.org/Updating_the_t...ndows_7_32-bit). However, it's okay to overlook things, it's okay to skip wiki, very few people here would laugh at people being slappy, and we all know the first problem most people encountered in flashing is the 64-bit problem. The problem is you didn't answer to the right question from someone who tried to help, instead spent time fighting with those who asked for fighting, and then you jumped into emotion too quickily.

I use sacrasm to respond you because I understand your impatience, but disagree with you regarding your accusation toward this community, but don't want to use harsh words on you.

Indeed. That's why my message is only directed at the people that were rude (which is probably just "abill_uk"). I don't mind if you post messages that aren't helpful, but when you directly flame against someone, or bash against someone or post negative comments etc, that's what ticks me off.

I thank the people who did help out, whether it's only a tiny bit of advice or suggestion, I do appreciate it. I didn't mean to ignore the question from post 4 either, it's just that when you're in the heat or middle or trying to fix something frantically, you often miss and forget little things, and in this case i forgot to reply back. Like i said above before, everyone should have been through this type of thing before, whether it's trying to fix your computer or an expensive device or whatever. I honestly thought i killed this $900 device which i only bought 3 weeks ago, so it's still fairly new, so that's why i was panicking and impatient, but that's normal.

Anyway, let's all just forget about this. I was never emotionally like you said I was, I wasn't angry or anything, just disappointed and a little bit pissed that someone would accuse me of trolling my own topic when clearly all i've done was ask for help, and post the solutions i found and the steps i did, nothing more, that's it.

Again, more of this is directed at "abill_uk", you can see the quotes from him and justify this, and again thanks to anyone who did actually help.

Good to hear that. Welcome to Maemo commuinity! Try not to get into another mud-wrestling even when you're invited to. XD

BTW, how come yours is so expensive? It comes with a pony? @_@

lol....no...

The cheapest I could find is $900, the average is like $1100.....i live in New Zealand so the $900 is in NZD, not USD.

Just a thought, when you run the flasher installer for the latest version on a vanilla Windows XPSP3.

It installs Nokia USB drivers into Windows.

This is so Windows can detect the N900 USB connection.

Suggest.

Uninstall the flasher, uninstall the Nokia USB driver.

reboot Windows without N900 plugged in and reinstall flasher, it should put on a correct set of flasher Windows USB drivers.

I guess it comes down to this - If you think a guy is trolling then ignore him. If you have useful information then share it. If you need more specific information to be useful then ask for it.

It is nuts that a request for help should degenerate to name calling on this forum. I am embarassed for us.

You're quite right, and I'm really sorry that I have to agree with you on this...
In many cases it seems easier to bash a noob instead of getting straight to the point and helping out. :(

Re: NEED HELP ASAP!! Bricked N900!

instead of trying to do the flash via Win7; how about considering getting one of the bootable linux distribution CD/DVD to boot your PC and then run the flasher from there?

good luck

it's good that your issued had been resolved. sorry...missed the detail. FYI, at one time, I had the same issue(where the flasher did not 'see' the n900) even with XP running in a VM.
