Totally useless though if it won't run linux :-[ :( |
Re: Is there anything comparable to the N810?
It's an interesting topic/question and one that I keep coming back to.
The M528 seems interesting but it's now a 2+ year old device and if you go to gigabyte's homepage it's listed under the 'Legacy' category so not sure what to make out of that. If it was available in the US today at a reasonable price I would, however, still be interested. Anyone know of ANY other wifi-enabled touchscreen devices without phone but with a h/w keyboard like the N810 - that can run Android or Ubuntu? |
Re: Is there anything comparable to the N810?
yeah.
If n810 had more powerfull cpu and a bit more ram and run any other free (without Nokia's licenses) OS, plus IRda and some buttons on the top panel (like n800) - it would be da best MID for me. |
Re: Is there anything comparable to the N810?
There's the EKing S515 with resistive touchscreen..: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7tbC2-kL2U
It looks pretty nice and it can run Ubuntu and has a USB port. Here showing Skype video call: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sq30eHTF6HE I'm really like the Viliv N5 look though, but not sure if this could run Android or Ubuntu: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wnyynkHh9c |
Re: Is there anything comparable to the N810?
Viliv N5 And UMID BZ run linux, WIFI enabled. You can run the Android live CD ISO too using virtualbox. UMID has 5-6 hrs of WIFI life to boot.
Best to read about such things on here: http://forum.pocketables.net/forumdisplay.php?f=65 What you are ideally looking for on second thoughts is the Sharp Netwalker which natively runs Ubuntu and can run Android: http://androidzaurus.seesaa.net/article/130268081.html |
Re: Is there anything comparable to the N810?
Yeah, Viliv S5 is very, versy nice.
By the way, I gonna buy Viliv S7 next month :) |
Re: Is there anything comparable to the N810?
I have the s5 but the N5 has a nice keyboard, n5 battery life is much poorer though!
S7 is great, can make calls from it too I think. But I only use pocketable devices mainly! |
Re: Is there anything comparable to the N810?
I think so far the Viliv N5 running Linux would be the closest to a 'new N810' for me.
Been drooling over this for a bit: http://www.dynamism.com/notebooks/viliv-n5.shtml |
