mind you, apple fanboys are fierce, let alone DUMB. I have a friend who's trying to prove his iphone 3G is better than my n900. But both of us know that we're just kidding around. lol best part is, i showed him a live wallpaper, a live video wallpaper, and then the knight-rider keyboard effect, then the augmented reality app (JUST for fun, not at all pointing out how superior the phone is whatsoever. we both are tech savvy). and trust me, 1st he said it was SICK (as in amazing!) then a few seconds later he said..im sure the iphone has all that too.. i just laughed my *** off. i didnt respond to it at all. then i thought, why let him be happy? so i told him, first of all, YOU dont have a KEYBOARD!xD it was really funny. you shouldnt take the debate so seriously though, trust me, you wont be satisfied with your phone at all. consider him a troll. OR just download the qtirreco app and change the channel of HIS tv with your phone :P. trust me, then he WILL stfu. :P |

Re: Can anyone give me good points of N900 over iphone 4 (jailbreak)
this is kinda pointless, but first, you should just punch him in the face if he doesn't shut up, violence usually solve things quickly this way and is the only way if you can't get your message through peacefully. If that doesn't solve it, you need to punch him twice as hard, and make that double.
ANYWAY.......here's my unbiased opinion, as i own both phones. iPhone 4 (or any iPhone/iPod Touch) are really great for the applications. They truly are. It's almost taken as a fact, regardless of how much of a hater or critic you are, most people have to agree with this. The phone market is pretty much dominated by iPhone because of the amount of apps you can buy from the App Store (not to even mention you can pirate them, as well as getting even more apps from Cydia after you jailbroken it, along with all the sources and repos). Hell, i have around 50GB+ worth of iPhone apps/games and don't even use or know 1/4 of them, i just let them sit there on my hardrive lol. Anyway, my point being is that this is what the iPhone is dominant in. That's about the only thing they're good at. On the other hand, the N900 is a beast. It can actually multi-task properly, and it took Apple finally let users do that on the iPhone 4. If you don't count jailbreaking to get multi-tasking enabled on the iPod Touch or the older iPhones, then yes it took them 3 years to introduce multi-tasking, which is still ****. The N900 has no limits. It's open source and you can hack/tweak/customize it to the max. You can overclock it up to 1GHZ, and apparently up to 1.7GHZ (search it on Google, i think it's true but it might be fake, there's a pic so u can see for urself). The N900 has a great keyboard, and probably the best mobile browser there is, with flash (no 10.1 yet but at least there's flash). Txting on the N900 is wonderful to me as personally, i love the way it looks and the way you can simply login to ur MSN or other services etc. Also, it's great at backing up your entire phone. Sure, it doesn't actually backup the downloaded apps from your application list, but when i first used it, it WOW'ed me because I've never had such ease restoring my backups and configurations from all the different types of phones i've used. Lastly, it has 32GB of internal storage, and you can still expand it. And what's awesome about this is i only bought this for $600 NZD. A brand new iPhone 4, or even an iPhone 3GS costs about $1200+ NZD so that's how big of the difference there is. Now, there're several points i wanna make here. The reason why i prefer the N900 is because i only go for phones with a hardware keyboard. I used to own the HTC Touch Pro and HTC Touch Pro 2, i also installed custom roms onto them as well and tweaked them to the max. But they weren't good enough for me, so i found the N900 and loved it ever since. It looks sexy as well so that's why i like it. It's one of the best looking phones on the market with a hardware keyboard. I hate touch typing so that's y iPhones will never work for me. However, i must admit. The support for Maemo sucks. It's been almost a year since N900 was first launched. The OVI store is pathetic. The App Manager consists of 95% of apps that are still in beta or testing, and not fully developed. It's Open Source, yet not much is going on for it. Many ppl have left this community and dropped their N900 for something else. The truth is, i'm not even sure how long the N900 will last, it's not doing too well and that's a fact. I've used many phones platforms before, such as Symbian, UIQ3, Android, iPod Touch, Maemo, Windows Mobile, and they all have fairly good support but Maemo seems to be the worse. I know it's new, but heck it's doing really **** to be honest. Anyway, just tell your cousin that at least your N900 doesn't get the Grip of Death. And if ur still unhappy, get an iPod Touch, it's worth it. It only costs $240 NZD (brand new) and i can do everything the iPhone can, except for txting and calling. But ya, both of these still cost WAY less than buying just one iPhone 4 in NZ, so ya. EDIT: Or, you could try to brick his iPhone....or just update his phone to the latest firmware, so he can't jailbreak or downgrade it, unless he saved the SHSH blobs which i doubt he did. |

@chaoscreater,
Cheer bro, Yeah about bricking his phone, or updating it lol I almost did but i have sympathy for him. To be honest I'm the one who lined up to get his iphone 4 for him. He can't get it in Auckland so I got it for him after work. And yet after he got it he became a bit of a brain washed idiot. He is highly intellegent and and he is my cousin lol If I break his phone then he'll buggering me to pay for it. So I guess I just be happy and let him win. Like budha said "Winning or losing, does it matter?, Rather lose and became like a god better than Winning became like a satin" |

WOW cool u live in NZ too?? Haha i live in Auckland as well :) Well, now u learned a lesson. Don't waste ur time lining up to buy this for him if this is the kinda treatment he gives ya. Did u even charge him money to do this for him?? Lining up isn't fun ya know....especially the shitty weather we get these days........just curious, did u get it from the Apple Store in New Market?? That's the only one i know lol. But ya, if i were u, i wouldn't mind buying this for my cousin, or for anyone else for that matter. But if he's being a prick about it, i'd say u use force on him lol. Or maybe scratch his screen or something, after all, that's the only usable part on any iDevice.... NO WAIT, i got a better idea!! Drip some water into the earphone hole, that will DEFINITELY brick his iPhone! And he'll never know! You can do it anywhere with water, so he can't accuse you of bricking the phone because u'd have to use a computer to do it with the iPhone connected, which is risky anyway. |
Re: Can anyone give me good points of N900 over iphone 4 (jailbreak)
I think, put simply, that you have to jailbreak the iPhone 4? You shouldn't have to hack a device to do all this stuff. Pretty useless arguement if you ask me. 'Hey, look at all this neat stuff I can do' yeah, but, it didn't come like that, you had to manipulate the software to do all these wonderful things. Nokia n900 is a great phone, and the iphone browser displays most of the time a mobile version of the site, whereas micro b displays it in it's desktop goodness.

Nah I lined up in Chartwell Hamilton. Auckland ran out of it lol they only got like 56Units each qualified store and Hamilton got about 36Units each store..Oh well, I don't want to be like him. I was planing on getting the White one next year if N9 = failure! But now I'll wait for something else. May be Droid or N9 but I'm trying my best to avoid Nokia for the time being. WIthout this community Nokia N900 would have been long dead, I've been here since launched lol. Got it since the first batch as well. Used it for over 9months. |
