Funnily enough, i tend to use an iPhone style fingertip or even thumbtip splodge to click tiny little links (the thread page numbers on here, fo example) and am amazed at how seldom I have to press back because it's clicked the wrong one, even though when i press the one I want the links either side are also getting touched.

I guess it must go on the centre of the touch, no matter how big, so in that case it's a question of practice..

The response to touchscreen on my N900 is the same as on my iphone 3GS

you do realize the 3gs is capacitive? which means finger nails won't work. the n900 is resistive which means finger nails do.

is the finger gliding smoothly over the surface of the screen or do you feel little bumps on it?

No, that is precisely what I mean initially when I said that the surface of the screen doesnt feel smooth that is because the finger does nto glide smoothly on the screen. I have applied a Screenguard on it. Still have to experience how does it feel. Will post my experiences soon...

What Rubbish !! the touch of N900 is no where comparable to the Capacative, Multi-Tocuh of iPhone 3GS. That is just plain exxageration...

Yeah, I feel that too. Especially when I slide my finger to select a long url or text, the surface feels kinda bumpy. I have Clarivue screen protector on btw, but I don't think that's the problem.

One, all screen protectors are sheets of plastic.
This means they will have texture. Some may be as smooth as without, some may be rough. But you will feel the texture of the screen protector, not the N900.

But even before I applied the screenguard, I could not glide my fingers smoothly on the N900 Scree, it would feel bumpy...

Did you apply pressure on to the screen when touching it? lol. Incase you mistakenly think it a capacitive screen lol.
