Re: I've fallen for the Galaxy S2 :(
I really like that interviewer he has found out many great things:
1) Advent Vega/Viewsonic G-tablet/Malata Zpad 2) ST-Ericsson + NOKIA 3) MHL .... gotta keep an eye on this guy, he's really good at finding technews. BTW, I still prefer the Atrix's method of having a microUSB + dedicated HDMI port ... it gives more features and makes things dumbproof! (Not that I prefer the Webtop system, just saying having 2 physical ports is better, but its great they are pushing new sensible standards) |
Re: I've fallen for the Galaxy S2 :(

Re: I've fallen for the Galaxy S2 :(
iphone is great but too much locked up and also it has no USB storage mode, No memory card, No FM, tied to iTunes and everything else, microsim is a problem, no interchangable battery, etc.. list goes on...
iPhone is not for me, i prefer linux and open device but Since Nokia demolished my dream MeeGo then i'd go with the droid until intel come back on its feet with meeGO |
Re: I've fallen for the Galaxy S2 :(
But software-wise (only), what does any other mobile OS has that Maemo doesn't have? I don't really see much. Perhaps mainly games, but that's not really a necesity in my eyes...specially when we have one of the largest collection of emulators available (including a great and amazing N64 and PS1 ems)
|
Re: I've fallen for the Galaxy S2 :(
there are thousand of high quality apps which maemo don't have.
and even if you forget this fact then the other thing is that most of the android apps are high qualtity, supported and doesn't break your phone.even if you don't list the devel and testing apps then in the other repos are still no high quality apps.just search the maemo.org repos.the half of them is very usefull but only works via terminal and the other half is useless crap. you can't even compare oh and the emulators.android has almost every emulator which is available for pocket devices and there are still supported too. and android even gets the playstation suite soon so whats the point? http://downloadsquad.switched.com/20...-gaming-store/ |
Re: I've fallen for the Galaxy S2 :(
agree with@atilla
There plenty of quality apps on android |
Re: I've fallen for the Galaxy S2 :(
So basically you're saying that Android is just more noob-friendly? Because to me, a media player (for exemple) is a media player. No matter if you have to run it thru xterm or thru a pretty eye-catchy gui, the end result will be the same: it will play your media (in this exemple).
Ok you got me in the emulator part, but again, that's the gaming department, and linux itself was never good in that. If one would trully be interrested in portable gaming then one should only get the PSP (or the soon NGP) cuz Android and Apple are still far behind compare to it. I always carry my PSP with me, either in my bag or my winter jacket. Got over 50 different full games on it, the way they are meant to be played, not emulated. I admit I am not highly knowledgeble when it comes to droids, but I have still yet to see a useful app that i cannot have. The "high-quality"ness of it is of little significance to me if the end result is the same. I have over 200 devel/testing apps installed and none have ever broken my device past the point of no repair. |
