I have all type of files like .wma,word,excel,pdf,.jpeg etc.
i cannot perform any operations in file manager, when i delete files it goes off but later it shows a file with the same name with ? sign and an unknown format.

After few seconds the file appears again.

I have been trying to resolve this problem since last 8 months but unsuccessful, tried every possible thing.

now i feel it's immpossible to bring it back to normal state

Why do you want to uninstall/install rootsh?
Just type
sudo gainroot
(or just "root")
then you should be able to execute umount.

Hi Nicolai,

I run all the required commands from root, but nothing changed.Memory is still in Read Only Mode.

Any other solution to this problem ?

I hoped the fsck would help.
I don't know what else could be the reason.

Re: N900 - Hardrive is in Read Only Mode

first umount /home/user/MyDocs, then fsck.vfat on the /dev/mmc(etc)

then reboot without remounting first.

This fixed the problem on my N900.
