Re: Extended Swype settings

Type devel-su in terminal
it will ask for password which by default is rootme
the password when typed wont appear you just have to type it and press enter...

No, sorry. I forgot to mention that the options I listed in my previous post are tested on PR1.3, this is (according to dpkg) v1.19.38839.

Do what? It is really not necessary to be ,root' to edit the SwypeConfig.ini, as it is located in the user's home: /home/user/.swype/SwypeConfig.ini
I modified my post to clarify the location, it was not given clearly enough.

PS. The original mod (extended settings) works also if you modify only user's SwypeConfig.ini, which should be preferred to changing the global SwypeConfig.ini. Otherwise you have to edit it every time the swype-package gets updated (ok, this is not very likely to happen very often any more :( )

When you change that file you must be root i.e. devel-su

if it still doesn't work copy that file using terminal to MyDocs, edit it then copy it back to that location using cp -R in terminal...

Re: Extended Swype settings

i did root

how do i copy a file using the terminal?

thedead1440 2012-09-06 10:28

Re: Extended Swype settings

open terminal
devel-su
rootme
cp -R /usr/share/swype/data/SwypeConfig.ini /home/user/MyDocs/

edit the file then to copy back:

open terminal
devel-su
rootme
cp -R /home/user/MyDocs/SwypeConfig.ini /usr/share/swype/data/
