YMMV :)
In my case, eyesight was not a problem. All it took was tacking the port on both sides, apply flux liberally on contacts, heat soldering iron to good temp., apply a little solder on the tip, and just slide it over the contacts. With the right temperature and enough flux the whole thing flows nicely. Anyway, with this technique I fixed both my fallen off USB ports. I'm not talking about a possibility. The quoted part of my message was just saying no one should attempt to reattach the port without flux/braid. Soldering iron alone seems insufficient to me, due to the pins being so close to each other. Hot air remains the best option, which unfortunately I had no access to. |

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were implicating not to trust anyone whose only tool is a soldering iron (i.e. no hot air soldering station).

in my case there is no more contact for the usb port to attached to. a have access to a soldering iron and hot air but from what i see its not possible to repair.
