To clarify, can you download MMS when WIFI is turned off? |

Anyways, when I have Mobile reception from the provider and WIFI is on that is the only scenario when MMS doesn't download. Therefore I think it's a OS problem. WIFI on/off shouldn't interfere the MMS. Thanks for opening the question on together.jolla.com. I will post there too. |
Re: 3.3.0.x Rokua
mosen: Thank you! I do not have a telegram account though.
How do I upgrade to Sailfish OS 3.3? The same droid egl sink problem with show-frame affects jolla-gallery - any video being played shows black screen (while audio is totally fine). Thank you. Best wishes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Per aspera ad astra... P.S. I am trying to edit id tags of audio files, but I have no idea how to set cover art for an album. |
Re: 3.3.0.x Rokua
For Image tagging mp3 i found "MusicBrainz Picard" on desktop to be most convenient.
You can scan online DBs for cover art and mass assign them to folders with that. If you got your own images you just want to assign, i use EasyTAG on linux. To update sfos on any device i switched to use and recommend Olfs sfos-upgrade script since it checks for the known dealbreakers and has nice logging. The less failsafe manual method is as always Code:

Update to 3.3.0.16 failed and left my XA2 with permanent flight mode and without network. After these steps and reboot, I had to (repeat) update to 3.3.0.16 via command line https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/a.../201836347#4.3 Quote:

Can you show your mms apn settings? |
Re: 3.3.0.x Rokua
About MMS and Vodafone in The Netherlands: on the Jolla 1 it appeared I could not receive MMS messages. Contacting their helpdesk learned that their system had classified it as "an unknown telephone, probably not capable of receiving MMS". I made them change their classification, and from then I could receive MMS normally.
This happened a couple of times, every time I changed my main phone. Call your provider, to be sure. |
Re: 3.3.0.x Rokua
If the settings are wrong, they are wrong independent of cellular data or WiFi is used.
Here it seems to be about inability to receive/send when connected to WLAN. That looks like packets are routed wrong way. --edit Oh, and you do/should NOT need any data enabled (neither cellular nor data) but need at least GPRS (cell data) availability. As the traffic is sent/received via a completely different APN. Which activates (should activate) on its own. Talking that I mean Symbian/Maemo/MeeGo times. How Sailfish handles I do not know. But I do hope this has not changed!? @rob_kouw but then you should be informed via a SMS that there is something to download on a web site? At least it was that way when I dealt with fMMS on N900. Cannot remember to have used MMS on Sailfish... Bu what I also remember is that you needed to have sent one MMS from that phone/SIM to activate the receiving. |

Most provides require this as a proof that a specific device can handle MMS, before delivering MMSs to that device. BTW, this a a classic, mentioned at TJC multiple times. |
Re: 3.3.0.x Rokua
There is a thread here called: "Sailfish MMS problems - T-Mobile USA".
I used "deprecated" suggested settings on page 2 for T-Mobile. "Works every time, just not when you're on WiFi exclusively, or on a VPN.", as he says. |

BUT that is not the problem, the problem is that MMS goes over wifi for everyone. some telecoms (yours) are okay with this, and some are not (ours) |
Re: 3.3.0.x Rokua

on android, the downloading of the files goes over the cellular data and not your wifi, even when connected to wifi+celldata. on SFOS, it uses wifi to actually download the MMS. EDIT: i actually dont know if SFOS uses wifi to download MMS or not, i just know that, on the same device with the same provider and the same APN+MMSC+IPv6, on android: can ALWAYS send/rcv MMS while connected to wifi on sfos: can NEVER send/rcv MMS while connected to wifi |
Re: 3.3.0.x Rokua
EDIT: i did NOT fix it, connman firewall is NOT the problem, IM SO SORRY. i got REALLY excited.
my router lost power and restarted while i was testing and the wifi went off. |

Anyway, it's a habit now for me to use the option in Utilities to restart the network subsystem whenever I turn off wifi because I know it broke the ability to do MMS. |
Re: 3.3.0.x Rokua
nevermind :'(
EDIT: er, i mean, nevermind my previous 'EUREKA!' this is still a problem, cannot send/rcv MMS while connected to wifi on a T-Mobile phone |
Re: 3.3.0.x Rokua
p.s.: i will paypal 100$USD to anyone that fixes this reliably for me, even if its just some silly config change i never thought of
i know bounties are weird+suspicious, but ive spent hours on this and suffered for 3+ years, since first switching from meego to sfos, and ive actually gotten to happily pay a couple bounties on tmo |

2 Attachment(s)
I wonder if anyone has experienced this. The top menu on my Xperia X has been turning progressively more and more transparent, until it became so transparent that it was impossible to make out anything. A reboot fixed it, but now I wonder how long for.
Attached are two screenshots for a comparison. One from 5 days ago exhibiting the transparency and one after a reboot. Attachment 41103 Attachment 41106 |

I have not came across that even though I tend to reboot as seldom as possible. Uptime is currently 16 days, reboot was due to updating from 3.3.0.14 to 3.3.0.16 |
Re: 3.3.0.x Rokua
I had that once or twice/thrice but did not spend a thought more on this than making a screenshot. Which I deleted in a clean-up mood later...
So for a SFOS user (me :)) nothing serious or even worth to mention :D So, yes this happens (XA2). afair a restart of lipstick cured |
