Re: Request: TCPMP
Hmm... still same error. Thank you for the advice though! I appreciate it!
I'm waay too tired to try and figure this out right now (it's like midnight here) I'll take another look in the morning :) |
Re: Request: TCPMP
Ah, sorry :(
Heh, it's 8AM here :) (If you can, when you have the time, could you post up your control file in the deb because I may be able to spot the error :)) |
Re: Request: TCPMP
Thanks qwerty :)
Here's the file PyPackager generates. Hopefully I'm just missing something really obvious :P |
Re: Request: TCPMP
Try changing the architecture from Any to armel.

Re: Request: TCPMP
There is one more "fun" mplayer option: -speed
For example using '-speed 0.9' will slow down playback by 10%, but sound gets really distorted if you overuse it. |
Re: Request: TCPMP
Hmm... well, thanks to qwerty12's help, the generated .deb will install, but it doesn't copy the executable to /usr/bin...
I'm sure it's just user error, I must be doing something stupid again :P |
Re: Request: TCPMP
Hmm, I'm not sure with pypackager but I believe the source directory has to be in the structure of where the files need to be.
e.g hi is my executable and /home/user/MyDocs/hisrc is my source folder. I'd put "hi" in /home/user/MyDocs/hisrc/usr/bin and select /home/user/MyDocs/hisrc as my source dir. |
Re: Request: TCPMP
Hmmm... I've done that though...
My directory tree looks like this: http://www.bleachedblack.com/scsdc/p...Stuff/Mopt.png mplayer-opt-src is selected as my source directory in PyPackager... Am I missing something? |
Re: Request: TCPMP
Ok, I downloaded PyPackager and your generated file and did some testing of my own.
I made a deb file successfully using your file. Make the Binaries folder /home/user/MyDocs/Mopt/mplayer-opt-src/ and make the source folder blank. |
Re: Request: TCPMP
Ohhhh I see... I totally interpreted those fields wrong :P
Thank you! |
Re: Request: TCPMP
Alright!
Thanks to Qwerty12's time and patience I was finally able to package the script into a .deb file! Download here and install through the application manager :) Once it gets slightly more stable I'll see if I can get a key to upload to extras-devel |
Re: Request: TCPMP
this app is great!
I've just tried to play a DVD rip of a new Futurama cartoon: 720x416 px, and 1036kpbs video stream. And the video playback is pretty fine, except the picture quality (but it's ok) and no sound playback. I think it's a good time to start working on GUI :) |

Re: Request: TCPMP
Yes...what's the point if the quality is bad and there's no sound?? Still, great app :) Keep it up, I'd like to see the finished product. A GUI would be nice, but not until it's perfected.
|
Re: Request: TCPMP
Hmmmm... We haven't encountered the "no sound" issue before... can you post the output of:
mplayer -v <name of video file> that you tried to play? I need to add some config options for setting audio and video outs and so forth |
Re: Request: TCPMP
My apologies, everything is ok, sound works perfectly :)
I’ve just played with a2pd before installing mplayer-opt (still having fun after installing Diablo), and after toggling a2dp everything is ok. Meanwhile I did some testing and all I can say all my non-converted videos (1.5Gb DVD rips, TV series ~400mb per episode) can be played easily, except some framedrops on dynamic scenes while playing 1.5 gb videos once again - great app, Many thanks! |

how bad is it for you - can the action scenes still be watched [or do I need to modify the values again...]? I mean, do the framedrops interfere much with the appreciation of the video? |

What settings would you suggest to play with in mplayer-opt script? I can try in om my n800 and then let you know the results. btw, one strange thing I noticed while starting player: sometimes it seems that the player hangs up or waits for some input. after entering "q" into terminal player starts fine. |
Re: Request: TCPMP
The script can be edited by invoking your favorite text editor with:
<name of editor> /usr/bin/mplayer-opt The variables... fairly well named if not well commented. :P So let us know if you have trouble getting around the code. The sections I would look at are the numbers for the various bitrate tests and especially which combinations of numbers invoke "hard" framedrop. hmmmm the hanging is DEFINITELY a bug. I know where it comes from, I just don't know why it would happen. It comes from the fact that the script opens mplayer twice. Once to get information about the video, and again to actually play it once it's determined what the best way to play it is. However... the first time mplayer is called, it's sent a signal (or it should be) to terminate within 1 second of being opened. I'll look into it :) |
Re: Request: TCPMP
josiahg777's website "bleachedblack.com" is gone. Does anyone have the final version of the mplayer-opt script? Or is this the only thing we have left?
