well it works now... I get a reply to HELP and COST commands. I haven't actually tested voice yet. I noticed the lowest price to Toronto, Canada is 0.59 cents (yes less than a cent or 0.0059 USD). that's pretty decent and beats my calling card.

Everything is described in F.A.Q on our site. There's also my article on how this service got stared: http://www.gtalk2voip.com/article1_en.html, and some technology details: http://www.gtalk2voip.com/gtalk_technology.html

The main idea is pretty simple:

1. We are open to any VoIP provider to register and start serving GTalk users.
2. If you have a SIP/H.323 gateway connected to PSTN, you just define its IP address (plus some tech. details), test it through our web site, then define rates to destinations you can terminate calls to.
3. The call cost for a user is calculated as initial rate offered by provider + 50% comission fee. Rates displayed to end GTalk users already include our comissions and are final.
4. When call is charged, 65% of money goes to a provider the call was routed to, thus increasing its balance.
5. After some period we do wire transfer to providers.

So, at present we have 15 registered and tested VoIP prvoders, covering almost worldwide destinations. We believe, that in some time, when we get more providers registered, they will start competing to each others, which will lead to rates get dramatically lowered. Hope, this will work! :)

As a state of business, the revenue we get at present is enough to cover all our expenses, but not enough to fund further development. So, implementations of new features go very slowly, because we do it in our spare time.

Well, if you have some kilobucks you don't know how to waste, we are ready to get funded :-).

Regards,
Ruslan.

The GTalk2VoIP development team.

Yes, that's possible. I have sent you an email to your gmail account describing this stuff. Did you get any ? I need a list of your GTalk accounts to get merged.

Regards,
Ruslan.

Thanks Ruslan,

I sent you an email with the information. I guess I need to read my email more often :)

Thanks again,

wierd issues

Invitations, I created a new gmail account and have only used it on the 770, never logged into the windows googletalk client, it now accepts invitations without issues. Can anyone else confirm this, create a new account and don't use it is windows and see if you can recieve invitations.

I have two accounts that crash googletalk on the 770 when new invitation comes in, my newly crreated account works without crashing when new invitation comes in.

Awesome, I am not going to log this account into windows googletalk client because I am affraid it will break it.

I have also noticed another problem, I created 2 googletalk accounts, 770gtalk and 770addict, neither of these account would login using the 770 googletalk client, it was like because they started with numbers they were not able to log into the 770 client

Can anyone else confirm any of this?

penguinbait -

That's funny you mention that about not using your Gtalk login on Windows and now it accepts invites on the 770...that's my situation exactly. I already had a Google Mail name and had never used it on a computer to login to Google Talk, since everyone I know seems to use Yahoo or MSN. The first time I tried Gtalk was when i loaded up the 2006 beta on the 770.

I have not had any problems accepting invites from new numbers using gtalk2voip. I tried calling the 770 from diferent numbers, and on all of them, the little people icon would start flashing red and green and then i would accept the invite, then a few seconds later, the chat app would start ringing. No crashing, always worked.

I wondered why so many people were having problems with invites...now we know...

I may have spoke to soon, kinda

it is working now with googletalk invitaions, I am still crashing when recieving incomming calls from IPKALL

Orbitalcomp, were incomming IPKALL working for you also?

I did login to that gmail account from windows browser?

It really seems like the googletalk client on the 770 is the culprit, it should not
matter where the user logs in from. BETA

Isn't thhere only a couple of days left in the 2nd quarter 2006?

I was wondering the same... ;) We should be able to download new OS version by Friday. (If the promises of Q2 are any good?)

yes, incoming ipkall calls work fine...I get the invite, accept, then it starts ringing and i can answer the call...

I haven't loaded anything else on my 770, only the 2006 OS...maybe that has something to do with it?

The only thing I have crash is Opera, every long once in a while...everything else seems to run stable...

johsua 2006-06-29 04:35

I can accept invitations as well now. but only because I finally noticed where they show up as described in an earlier post. I also use my gtalk account on my PC. I received an incoming ipkall call w/ no crashing. I have a few other things installed: xterm, ssh, fbreader, and gaim. It seems like an incoming invitation should be a little more obvious. Perhaps they'll make it more aparent in the 2006OS non-beta release.

Well after reading your post, I figured what the hell, I will flash my 770 with fresh BETA and see if the results were any different.

Well, they were, with a fresh flash, I was able to accept IPKALL incomming without any issues. Now I am going to start installing all my software again and see if I can find out what broke it.

EDIT 1
Well OK maybe not, it worked for a number that previously was not working but had accepted the invitation, that now works, new numbers still crash it. $%&%

Its not looking like they are going to make they're 2nd Q 2006 deadline

I think they did keep the promise... new OS is (was?) available today. Any brave soul there yet tested it out? Does the final 2006 OS solve the problems we have had with Beta?

=DC= 2006-06-30 17:43

I just installed the final 2006 OS and am testing now. Will report back in an hour or two.

=DC= 2006-06-30 18:18

Here's what I've got so far:

- Was able to restore my settings saved from the backup in the beta release.

- GTalk2VoIP service worked flawlessly using the Call +xxxxxxxx feature as well as calling from my contacts list.

- Interesting Tableteer.nokia.com site that works with the 770 quite well. There's a lot of stuff to talk about here, so I'll save that for someone else to review. I will say that there are some new themes, a game and some internet radio channels [Virgin] to download.

- Discovery video is back and plays just as smooth as before.

- Browser did crash once on a resource intensive site, but did not restart the 770 like before. Had no more problems after enabling extended virtual memory. Passwords are reset, so you'll have to enter those all over again.

- digg.com loads quite fast and is stable when viewing comments to popular stories.

- The other applications [pdf reader, notes, email, etc.] seem more stable and quick when loading.

ilia 2006-07-07 03:56

i get a lot of lost connections when using gtalk2voip to call a phone number...
btw, this is composed using the new full screen kb!

Mara 2006-07-07 22:56

Gtalk... still no better than Beta...

After flashing to final 2006 OS I have not noticed Gtalk working any better than the Beta OS. Incoming calls from cell phones (at least?) using IpKall still crash the Gtalk. No invitations can be seen to accept. Has anyone seen an improvement on this?

On the other hand the 2006 OS (web browser) seem much more stable I haven't has a single crash yet... :)

penguinbait 2006-07-08 02:46

no better

I have had no luck in accepting it either, makes great outgoing call though

cintra 2007-01-04 15:24

Its been a long time, but I just came across this thread and would like to confirm being able to receive (and send) Gtalk chat on my 770.

It is also well integrated with the Gtalk2voip service, picking up all Google Talk contacts 'automagically' ;-)

Mvh

Re: SIP VoIP thru GTalk working...almost!

Not sure about picking up contacts, but it works great for me at least receiving calls. I haven't had a chance to make a call yet, but looks look from others that works.
