Make them Godzilla-sized and I will take two of each shirt shown in this thread. Three for "Fixed in Fremantle". :)

I'm not finished if you have more suggestions. It's just that there haven't been a whole lot of suggestions, so... If you have ideas, let me know.

I like this better than the chosen design, but still much less than the abstract version.

Something about this design makes me visualize it printed dark and positioned low and wide on a light orange shirt, creating a sort of Maemo/Charlie Brown mashup.

Charlie Brown definitely came to mind when I did the first orange shirt. ;)

My favorite of the two on the back of a shirt.

I have some silly, but now serious idea for t-shirts, maybe it would be interesting for you. What if we do something like this and leave a space for nick tag so everybody will recognize each other easily. Just a thought :)

Definitely has an "open source" look. Heck, we could even get blank, black t-shirts and a roll of white duct tape to do this one! ;)

Well, you can make many different things with duct tape :D

fwiw we don't really need a shirt design before mid September. It's nice to experiment with ideas as long as the designers don't get tired / bored.

Cool, but I'd still prefer this sort of graphic on the back and logo in the pocket area, myself.

Doesn't feel quite right on the 2009 - it works alright on the block-letters of "MAEMO" and "SUMMIT"; but is less effective on the 2009, IMNSHO.

It's a kerning issue due to character count but IMO it's not a showstopper. I actually like how it draws the eye to the year because of the distinction... and I don't think the characters should be altered to account for it.

Although, one possibility would be change it to 9 10 2009 or similar...

I like the idea of t-shirt design... but somehow i dont like the crosses..... why so cross?

The crosses are on the flag of Amsterdam - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Amsterdam

I liked this too -- which is why I left it that way.

Tim, I would also bump up the size/boldness of the orange characters a bit. Not much, just a bit...and maybe move them closer to the outer edges afterward (if it's black background on black shirt the letter edges can actually be tangent to the perimeter, which certainly allows larger font size.

True. I can try that. This version was keeping in proportion with the Amsterdam flag. Thanks for the advice.

Hmmm I see the "X" and I keep thinking that it is somehow bad, because it is a contrary symbol to the usual check... maybe its just me...

Edit: Even worse, a co-worker peeked over my shoulder and asked me if that was a logo for a XXX rated movie or something like that :(

Well, we aren't. Amsterdam is. So, if people want a happier flag, let's have the next Summit here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cas...co,_California

(Although, that brings with it an entirely new set of circumstances.)

By virtue of accepting Amsterdam as the locale, we acquire its Exyness. :p

I think you could bump up "Amsterdam" and "maemo.org" and still be in the general flag parameters.

But, yeah, this is platinum.

EDIT: size, you silly, I meant bump up the SIZE!

It looks like you took the opposite of my advice-- the text is smaller now.

Oh wait-- was that the idea? The best approach is the converse of what I suggest?

:p

Ha ha! :D

The text isn't smaller, it was just moved further away from the "logo." The m.o logo is smaller (and moved further away) to create more space. Maybe I just misunderstood you... But, I think it looks better now. ;)

I really like this design!
Amsterdam crosses very prominent, as a resident I can only say: Well done!

Re: Maemo Summit 2009 merchandise and design...

Hi,

Many of the designs use the cross and some of them are actually good looking. The biggest problem I have is that unless we use the right color (red/white) my brain doesn't make the association between the crosses and Amsterdam(and I live in Amsterdam). It would be good it this association was made (red/white like the Danish week-end would be great) but perhaps some other "city" icons can be taken. For example the crosses are very often found on the poles in the city http://www.flickr.com/photos/remonrijper/3535454839/ and this This is also use a lot for merchandise.
