@fiferboy. By the way if you get an n900 before launch, you realize you and I will have to meet up lol

It looks like there is little enough chance of that happening. There has been no word (that I have heard) of a developer program be introduced any time soon. :)

I'll show you in portrait mode.

lol, it looks better that way I think, plus the gradient is landscape, so eat it.

The current one makes me wish I bought an iPhone 3G S/Android_device instead :p ;)

I'll buy you instead!

I thought just landscape the icon would be kind of boring, I'll test it out and post it here. Then I need to do some work lol. Fantasizing and working on stuff for a device I don't have is taking up too much of my time lol.

Actually there's been lots of words about that. Quim has assured us all several times that there will be a developer device program starting very soon.

GSM (2G), EDGE (2.5G), 3G (3G) or HSPA (3.5G).

Ah yes.

EDGE: Bringing back fond memories of the 56k modem! :p

qole - thanks. I had seen work from Quim a few weeks back but haven't sniffed any news since. I must be frequenting the wrong threads and mailing lists ;)

Now to hope I qualify when it happens...

"landscape" icon, so we have a reminder of the pains of wanting portrait... *sigh

What about a "Designer/Developer" program? I'll run design on any and all apps if i can get a discount :(... well I plan on helping out as much as I can anyway.

While I like the icon, I think it should be rotated 180 degrees so that the arrows are on top.

Turn it around? Somehow feels like the device is talking to my lap... :)

Just a thought on the green arrows: would it look weird if you used round arcs instead, like in an rss icon?

Edit: beaten on the rotation...

Current screenshot. Quite nice... well... when TMO isn't shrinking down my images upon uploading them anyways. :/

I'll fix this in a minute.

TMO shrinking does make it tricky to see. Maybe because you are using a jpg instead of a png? I don't think I have ever had a png shrink...

This is very much a work-in-progress screenshot. Don't worry too much if things aren't pixel-perfect yet.

Here it is, close up and cropped.

Personally, I like the icon in the screenshot better anyways. I don't look at it as portrait mode because.. well.. I never imagine radiowaves entering from the side of a phone, so... heh.

Yes, it has been a few weeks since Quim posted this, but according to this, you should have nothing to worry about.

Yea I like the angled one better too, it makes the icon a bit more interesting.

Looking great though, this app will defintiely be on one of my desktops.

Re: Personal GPRS Monitor for Fremantle

Clearly I'm a total square....I prefer the icon to be perpendicular, not at a jaunty angle ;)

It looks effective scaled down too.

I guess its up to zerojay and fiferboy (*cough pick angled *cough)

joshua: Could we get the latest icons in 64x64 with no background? And the last 48x48 with no background?

Thanks

For what it's worth, I like joshua's original angled icon, without the "speedometer" on it. Oh and on http://www.flickr.com/photos/zerojay/3971659427/ do we really need three decimal places? 1 would be enough, I think, i.e. 11.4 MB and 61.9 MB.

Likewise. The speedo is cool, but I don't really like it. Less is more.

Although I think we should have two decimal places rather than one. Three is perhaps a little overkill though

fiferboy 2009-10-01 20:35

Re: Personal GPRS Monitor for Fremantle

Decimal places could likely be configurable in future versions. Some people might like to manage their data down to the las KiB.

Um, I don't want to see any of the developers here in a speedo, either. Nor do I want to seem them in anything less.

In the case of a speedo, more is more.
