@geneven: if it were me, I'd ask the kid to explain what he meant on camera. "OMG They're onto us!" wouldn't be the first thing that came to my mind.

Nope... that child is being exploited enough as it is... it was said earlier that the grip on what was real and what's TV is tenuous at best for a kid his age.

BTW, I didn't know there was a reality show involved.

Well here's the dialogue:

Dad: "Did you hear us calling your name at any name?"
Falcon: "Uhuh"
Dad & Mom: "You did?!"
Dad: "Why didn't you come out?"
Falcon: "Um.. you guys said.. that, um... we did this for the show."
Dad: "*pause* ....Yeahmmm..."
Mom : *inaudible*
Dad: "You didn't, ummm.. come out?"
Falcon: "No."
Dad: "*BIG SIGH*"

The boy answered completely in context.

Still I think you can look at it both ways... it seems that in this family they do a lot of stupid things "for the show" and maybe the boy learned that to be an universal excuse.
It doesn't have to be the father making a publicity stunt or something. There's a real danger that they could get sued or even take their children away.

Poetic justice.

If it turns out that the father (most likely suspect) orchestrated this....he's finished - hand him a revolver with one hot chamber.

Whether it was the kids idea, or whether he was knowingly involved, it doesn't matter....he's too young to be held culpable.

Maybe everyone was making you the scapegoat for their dead baby jokes. You were definitely painted as being the villian...... almost as if you put him in the balloon.........

You're free and clear, use your new lease on life wisely ;)

It was probably his own admission of his poorly judged statement?

Back to your hole!!!

I never made a joke about a dead kid. I specifically stated that it was the surreal situation that tickled my dark sense of humor.

Yet the sissyfied panty-moistening narcissism just had to boil over in some people. Such lamers.

Fun's fun, Hogwash, but just letting you know: this forum is very tolerant of poster attitude, but you're pushing it with the ad hominem attacks. Not really the hallmark of someone "smarter than 99% of the population", is it?

Cool it.

You might want to look up "ad hominem" sometime.

I'm perpetually cool, it keeps the hand steady ;)

Could you please point out were I mentioned you made a joke about a dead kid? I merely pointed out your poor judgement which you also acknowledged? Right?

Back in your hole !

I acknowledged no such thing. The "I'm going to hell" is a common rhetorical device...not a literal admission of guilt.

Anyway....this story is done and done. As am I with it.

Not so fast, someone using the word "culpable", and "going to hell", sound to me like maybe you've attended some church or catholic school.

Either way, stating "I'm going to hell" after your statement shows you know what you were saying was not acceptable.

Seems like a complete admission of guilt to me. :p

I know the meaning well. If you don't think you're guilty, maybe you could use a refresher.

All this hostility should be targeted towards the boy's father.

Lynch mob, anyone?

Wrong.

Wrong. I don't give a flying fsck what you find 'acceptable' - your standards are your own problem. I happily stand by everything I posted.

I was again merely pointing out YOU obviously perceived it as unacceptable? right?

Wrong. Are you serious? Are you totally unaware of the casual sense in which the "I'm going to hell" device can be employed rhetorically? You're reading way too much into this.

I'm going to hell.

It shouldn't be too bad.

Being void of body means void of nerve endings, so the fire shouldn't be much of an issue............
