is 16GB the max it can take or the max that currently exists? So if a 32GB card comes out it can handle it?

I remember my N70 had jittery video recording if the memory card was used instead of phone memory. Hopefully this won't be an issue again?

Wait for the N900 mini February March time. I have heard from a source this will be coming out with case of people get a N900 buy it then when they see the MIni get annoyed and shout lots and then exchange it for a N900 mini. Just like what is happening with N97 mini

Hope this releases some stress, but also made me angry for another week :P

MPD run Nokia retail stores!!!

When you get your N900 it will be shipped for a Nokia store due to them getting it direct from Nokia so the cost price is differant its a bit cheeky.

Nokia stores will get the phone on the 27th so you will probably get your order just after then.

well if you read my other post you will be more depressed as a N900 mini is being release feb/march time. So start saving!!!! Gonna be like the N97 mini slightly smaller because the N900 is a brick i have been using for for just over a week and it is big and heavy but was still going to buy one untill i heard about the N900 mini.ill save my money and just wait a few more months. Im not that desperate.

Its delayed due to network testing its the same with every phone. Simple as it should be the 27th in Nokia stores and a few days later for MPD customers.

The software upgrades are out for it already as i have done mine which is good and apparently there will be another big one out soon.

network testing? I am pretty sure they wouldn't release the phone until everything was tested... I thoughts that was the reason for delay in the first place :/ its just long wanting when they dont at least send you an email telling you what is going on

Seriously, the number of bugs it seems there are in the retail firmware, combined with the large delays, makes me wonder what on earth they were doing

That said, now I won't get it until December at least, I've told them to cancel my order, I just don't like being mucked about in principle

Put it this way Nokia reps dont know whats going on!!! So MPD and stores deffinatley dont. Nokia have just said around the 27th/28th and that Its in network testing still and probably a bit of waiting till closer to christmas. It allways happens. It took 4 months to release the E72, The N97 was late and pointless because it still didnt and too point still doesnt work properley. The N900 seems to have no glitches although some have said it just switches off but on mine i have the new software and it seems ok and as ive said on other posts there is another software release soon so any glitches shouldnt be half as bad a the N97s.

Which store did you speak to? Going on what Steve posted in the other thread, they will be getting all the phones sent to one store, then they'll be re-distributed to their other Nokia stores across the UK. They then start sending them out by Royal Mail. So if they get them this week (we'll assume they're being sent standard, not express), they still need time to send them to other stores then process the 500+ preorders, as well as activating all those contracts...!

3rd December still seems likely... just one more week guys!

I'm liking this 16GB memory card competition btw - was going to spend £30 getting a replacement battery for my Cowon A2, but figured I'd just get a 16gb card and switch to my N900 when it arrives...Thanks!

Below is the operation of getting your N900.

Nokia stores will recieve there N900's to sell in store.
These will also be used for pre orders on the web.
You will then be sent your N900 buy special next day delivery.

They are not sent to one store they are sent to MPD Head office then Distibuted to Nokia Stores and the MPD webshop which is in a MPD store. and then sent out as stated above. The reason is MPD get there stock from a differant supplier than Nokia who get them direct from Nokia so have a differant cost price which means you get a cheaper deal. That is why all web orders are done through nokia stores. However they are only sent out through Nokia stores any issues there after are then dealt with directley by the Webshop. I hope this Califies for everyone. 27/28th of this month is a projected date for Phones being in Nokia stores so your should get them the next few days after than depending on where you are on the list basically.

Head office vs. one store = same difference. Still has to be re-sent once in the UK, which explains part of the delay.

Where would MPD be getting them if it wasn't directly through Nokia though? They've only been out a short while, and as an official Nokia reseller in the UK, it would make sense that they came from Nokia, seeing as no-one else has them yet... I'm not saying you're wrong btw, just want more info! Otherwise the 27th/28th seems unlikely if they have to go from Nokia to someone else to the head office to the webshop store to us... Maybe next year would be more likely?!

I find it hard to believe there will be a mini coming out by Feb. There's nothing on google about it. There was a fake report of the N920 though.

Why on earth would there be an n900 mini?
There's nothing wrong the size of the device to start with, and a smaller screen would be pointless. Surely they should just be concentrating on fixing any issues with the current n900 firmware and making sure they're shipped to all.

I think that was some troll just trying to wind us up, ignore it!

On another note, why would most people want/need a 16Gb memory card? I understand that some people would easily use up the extra space. But for the majority, why isn't the existing 32Gb enough? I could maybe understand a bit more if the card was "hot-swappable" (I think that's the right term?!) but you have to turn off the phone, take of the cover, take out the battery just to insert/remove the memory card.

I'm not having a go, genuinely curious.

Oh and to make sure we stay on topic! Hopefully only one more week until MPD get there act together and send us our phones!! :o)

For one, MP3s - most people could fill the deivce AND memory card with MP3s instantly. Obviously I wouldnt recommend it. But, suffice to say, who EVER decided that they had too much storage? More, more, more.

well think of it this way.. n97 mini is bigger height wise and n900 is smaller but thinker. so they would only come out with n900 slim which wouldnt work thinking of in terms of hardware it uses

Okay basically word of mouth through Nokia. I know people who know people and its made Trust me the guys already have it in farnborough head office, I have been told feb/march its the same as the done with the n97 and the n97 mini.

Whilst alarmed at the rebooting issue and concerned over the mic issue, it is not all devices that are affected, there are plenty of people who seem to be OK
One is a software issue that will have the devs crawling all over it until they find a fix and the other is looking like hardware. It might mean that I could be unlucky and have to send it back, crossed finger that Im ok, but I have waited too long and there really isn't anything out there that is comparable...

I know I have been one of the first to actally slag MPD off- and with good reason to press- but why exactly are you cancelling now?

To be fair- they have now emailed everyone, laid the cards on the table, given you a date when they are expecting the devices in and a date when they expect to send them out to you (and therefore a rough date, depending on the delivery option you chose as to what day you should recieve it). The Nokia.co.uk customers are receiving theirs which have been sent out as planned this week, so you know it's on it's way, so you don't think it sounds to sense to wait and see if it at least turns up on the first date that they've mailed out?
Yes, I know- I'm pissed off with waiting- believe me I'm the most impatient person I know- but I don't get your logic. sorry.
