As I have mentioned before, not possible without dual radios. N900 cannot have dual GSM network connections online at simultaneously.

Ya, they never answer emails. I was about to cancel the PayPal transaction, but waited the usual 21 days before snail mail arrives before complaining. And it did arrive in a simple envelope :)

hi nashith, just wanted to ask you. you know the ghost sim are you having any problems with it. im thinking about buying it but I want to
1. make sure it fits in the n900 sim cradle.
2. Do you need to configure anything or does it require another phone
3. And i have a t-mobile contract sim which uses internet so will it still work.
4. Last but not least one of the sims is bigger than the other so should i worry

i know it a lot of question but if you could get back to me id appreacite it

many thanks

Hi,

1. I have both 3G SIMS, fits nicely, needed some work to trim the edges for a perfect fit.
2. Needed an old phone (Nokia in this case) to access the SIM toolkit menu to configure the 007 mode so that you can switch SIMs easily via the N900's phone dialpad (001 dial+hangup for SIM #1, 002 dial+hangup for SIM #2)
3. I have no experience with T-Mobile SIMs, but technically it should work. No harm in trying since I believe this unit simply control the signal lines of the SIM. You should try it out and post your results.
4. As for the different sizes, mine was different size too. But the cut template was large enough to give good access to all the pin contacts to the minute microchip in the center of the SIM chip, shouldn't be a problem.

Which of the three models there you got and how does it work with N900?

Magic Sim 26th Cut version. It's simply switches between the two SIMs. Your phone will go offline before each switch and only one SIM will be active at any given time.

Re: Dual sim card adapter for N900

I was looking for a similar solution before and then I forgot totally about it. Now that so many people are actively participating in this, I assume, things are working fine on our N900.

Anyone from India who is using this dual-sim solution on their N900? And where did you make the purchase and for how much?

Based on your input/suggestion, I might go for it. Thanks in advance,

It showed up today. I will try it with a second ATT sim and see if I can make this fit/work. If it does, I will go ahead and order TMO sim.
Stay tuned!

Tried it in my E63 and it works fine. I can switch between the two with the special Menu Icon that shows up and interestingly both the sims had 3G symbol on. Tried calling each one of them through my landline, and it works.
Next put it in my n900. Sim 1 comes up fine and I can make and receive calls, but I cannot switch to SIM 2.
tried 2, Talk - > Requesting - Invalid
tried 002, Talk - It tries to dial that number and the dial fails.

So how do I switch ?

nashith, what happened tp the original STK from the two SIMCARDS ? Do they still appear or are completed overriden by the magicsim STK in a phone which supports STK ?
i can not test right now...

I am not sure, but I believe they are not visible, not overridden by any means. Just not showing up.

I Finland the operators only allow their numbers to be attached to their own SIM-cards. Attempting to change a phonenu ber onto a "foreign" SIM is simply not possible.

This is worth checking out with your operator(s) before getting this "16 SIM" card.

It's illegal SIM cloning.

Not able to do this with v2 simcards, as they haven't been 'cracked' (you need to be able to extract a Ki). Most sims are v2 nowadays, not worth the hassle imo.

just curious , how do you guys change the sims with magicsim and shortcut mode if the "current" in use SIM operator is unavailable ?
My SIM1 operator is currently offline and i am unable to change to the sim2 calling 002 cause i will get "celular network not available" ...

You need to have signal to change lines, do not ask me why.

isn't there a way to call the number using AT commands instead of the UI ?
so i could call from a terminal when there is no signal available ...

So how do I switch ?

I'm having the same issue using Magicsim 26th version. I saved the contacts 001 (w/ # 001) and 002 (w/ # 002) to each of the sim cards first. Then I activated 007 mode using an old Motorola phone and can successfully switch sims on the Motorola by dialing 001 dial+hangup or 002 dial+hangup.

When using the n900, sim-1 works correctly (can make and receive calls) but dialing 002 dial+hangup does nothing. If I switch the sims, the other one also works correctly (can make and receive calls) but I still cannot switch.

Anyone have experience with this issue? Any steps I missed?

Not with me...I´ve been using it for months now, working flawlessly.
I set it up using an N95 and then I just 001 and 002 to switch between lines. And do not forget to set the 007 mode.

Ok thanks for the response, I'm pretty sure 007 mode is set since it works in the Motorola phone. Not sure what else could be wrong.

Re: Dual sim card adapter for N900

At first try to disable PIN request only for one SIM (the second) and see, if You can change from first to that second SIM with James Bond method!
If that works: Heureka.

Now try to switch back with James Bond to the first SIM (with PIN code request). I am pretty sure, this will not work...
Now open a xterm (rootsh required) and type
sudo killall csd
This should bring up the PIN request for the first SIM, touch in Your PIN and another Heureka.

Choose, which method You prefer.

disclaimer:
this works for me with an adapter GDSI3G with similar switching method (11* or 22*)

REAL GOOD WORK PETERLEINCHEN

i bought the GDSI3G (amazon), and it works perfectly also with 3.5G!!!!

many many thanks!

i need the sudo killall csd for switching from sim2 to sim1... but WHO CARES it works!

Re: Dual sim card adapter for N900

OK.
Perfect :)
I also intended to by a 26th, but so I will stay with g-telware and buy another GDI3SG.

I just found, that You do not need to killall csd, which sometimes lead our gadget to confusion and it will not open internet connection via GPRS anymore...

But we can use a small script like
Code:

sudo ifconfig phonet0 down
sleep 5
sudo ifconfig phonet0 up

Not yet tested 100%, but nearly 99%. Maybe the time for sleep has to be increased. If it does not work, just call the script again.

Cheers

Re: Dual sim card adapter for N900

:D

i found a second dualsim adapter:

magicsim 28th (watch out the 26th does NOT work).

it works better than the GDI3SG, because you dont need to use terminal commands. i will test the adapter a few more days and will tell you my experiance.

HEUREKA!!!!!!!!!!

you can switch with the 007 mode (002 for switching from sim1 to
sim2, and 001 from sim2 to sim1)

it works also fine with 3.5G and pin

Really? I got a 28th gen magicsim a few weeks ago and couldn't get it to work properly. Which version did you get, the one that requires you to cut your SIMs or the one that lets you use them unaltered?

I got the cutting version and my SIMs are one O2 (UK) PAYG and one Three (UK) contract data SIM. I put it into 007 mode with the O2 SIM active then switched it to my N900, it comes on ok then I try to switch to the Three SIM, but my N900 doesn't seem to register it even after switching it off and on again. If I move the magicsim to my Three MiFi with the Three SIM active it will work in that, but not my N900. Unfortunately my N900 is the only phone I have that I can use the Three SIM in, so I can't properly test it in another phone.

Re: Dual sim card adapter for N900

it is the cut version

are you shure, that you have the 28th? the 26th does NOT work.

you can see it on the front of the package:

on the right side you can read the following points (26th):

double mode function
invisible number
two sim auto switch

on the 28th at the same positions :

ultra slim chip
double mode function
upgraded 007 function

Re: Dual sim card adapter for N900

3 Attachment(s)
Simore Platinum working solution.

I made a mod.post because I reflashed my N900 and this didn't work correctly due to security reasons ....

(you have to xterminal and root access)

I bought simore platinum for my N900, but it didn't work.
I was realli angry about the support, they replied an absolutely unuseable answer for my question.

My solution (my college helped me a lot)

Manual method:

1.
dial #11 to activate SIM1 (you got general error, no problem)
(or dial #22 for SIM2)

2. root shell and kill csd
(xterminal and sudo -s probably)
killall csd

After that N900 will ask your pin code (if is set) and register the new card. It takes some seconds.

Automatic mode:

1. edit a script: /usr/bin/changesim :

#!/bin/sh
/usr/bin/dbus-send --system --dest=com.nokia.csd.Call --type=method_call --print /com/nokia/csd/call com.nokia.csd.Call.CreateWith string:"$1" uint32:0
sleep 1
/usr/bin/killall csd
#end script

2. run right for this script:
chmod 755 /usr/bin/changesim

3. Create icons to apllications:
edit a file in /usr/share/application/hildon/sim1.desktop

[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Name=Company
Comment=Company SIM1
Exec=/usr/bin/sudo /usr/bin/changesim "#11"
Icon=general_synchronization
Terminal=true
Type=Application
X-HildonDesk-ShowInToolbar=true
X-Osso-Type=application/x-executable

4. edit a file in /usr/share/application/hildon/sim2.desktop
[Desktop Entry]
Encoding=UTF-8
Version=1.0
Name=Home
Comment=Home SIM2
Exec=/usr/bin/sudo /usr/bin/changesim "#22"
Icon=general_synchronization
Terminal=true
Type=Application
X-HildonDesk-ShowInToolbar=true
X-Osso-Type=application/x-executable

5. Two icons appear among applications and you can "Add shortcut" them to the desktop.

6. Enjoy! :-)
I attached these files, you HAVE to rename them
-without .txt
-replace "_" to ".".

Cheers, fido

Thanks, yes it does seems to be a 28th from what you told me, it could be something to do with the Three SIM (I don't really want too cut up another SIM to test though), since you've got yours working I'll have another stab at mine when I feel like messing about with it.

Hey fido.
Thanks for the hint with dbus command. I was aware, that there must be some command, but too lazy ;)
Now I put all together in one script and execute it with DesktopCommandExecution Widget.
But, You do not have any problems with 3G data connetcions after a few switches (killing csd)? I do, so I posted an alternative some post above.
Like:
#!/bin/sh
#/usr/bin/dbus-send --system --dest=com.nokia.csd.Call --type=method_call --print-reply /com/nokia/csd/call com.nokia.csd.Call.CreateWith string:"$1" uint32:0
/usr/bin/dbus-send --system --dest=com.nokia.csd.Call --type=method_call /com/nokia/csd/call com.nokia.csd.Call.CreateWith string:"$1" uint32:0
sleep 1
#/usr/bin/killall csd
sudo ifconfig phonet0 down
sleep 7
sudo ifconfig phonet0 up
#end script

For me this works perfect...

Just to put here: The magicsim 23th cut works as long you have another cell to be able to put it in 007 mode.

Working for 6 months, 3g and etc.

Brazil, but it shouldn't matter, I guess...

So mine is really magic, because I was able to connect to 3G with speeds almost as good as a 10mb wifi (almost inside the antenna, at midnight, but whatever).

Re: Dual sim card adapter for N900

hi there.

i read the same from some people here in germany.

i tried it and it does not work with 3G. i asked the people again and then they answer "it works, but only with 2G and 2.5G". magicsim gaves me the same answer.

:-(

after that i read that the 26th magicsim (advertisement said "first 3G compatible dualadapter") will work in the n900. with my simcards it works with 3G but i only could switch between t-online sim to the data sim from vf. but NOT back. i changed the sim cards, but same problem. magicsim gave me some solutions but none of them worked. so i used the 23th with 2,5G until last week....

the 28th works fine (for me)

maybe the problem is caused by the sim cards or the providers infrastructure.

just my personal experience

3G compatible adapters from magicsim

do you use a usim or a gsm card?

Temporal 2011-05-05 14:33

Re: Dual sim card adapter for N900

Both GSM cards.
Yes, I was taken by surprise too when I saw my "gprs0" connection going crazy, I thought I was connected to a wifi by mistake, but no, it was the 3g. It was just one time(well, an entire week) and weird, weird because:
My carrier "gives" free low speed connection, and you can buy MBs in bigger speeds. Even buying it didn't work for me, so I gave up and used the low speed one, BUT, when I was in a Hospital (no, it did not connect to the hospital's wifi), that's close to an antenna, I started to receive all the MBs I've bought since I bought the sim card, all at once.

Well, I should have taken a snapshot, but now all that I have is one with th edataplan monitor showing 1gb downloaded via carrier data... not much appealing.

I'm sorry I cannot provide proof, just a testimony. I still have the 23th box and the 1gb snapshot, but it wouldn't prove much |:/

awben 2011-05-05 17:44

Re: Dual sim card adapter for N900

hi.

there is nothing to prove. i will only show that the 23th will not work with all cards with 3G. if it works with your cards, it is good for you.

the 28th work in my n900 with my cards, also the GDI3SG. with the GDI3SG i ve got some probs with switching, but it works, when u use some terminal commands. the 28th works without terminal commands.

peace
