Wow sound great, if you want the N900 to be like an Iphone then why don't you just buy an iPhone instead? My whole point of buying my N900 in the first place was the Multitasking. Else I would of going for the Droid. I hope the next firmware fixes the brain of people who is possessed by the Apple iPhone bug :D |

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2?) and its release date
Nokia Conversations just posted http://conversations.nokia.com/2010/...-update-video/
Hoping it's here to make everyone ready for the soon to be released PR1.2 :) -Edit I followed the video to youtube, and it was posted February 15 :( so probably for 1.1.1, though reposting could be reminder for 1.2 |
Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2?) and its release date
Ovi maps would be awesome. But not turn-by-turn navigation only. They need to increase the areas which ovi map covers.
|
Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2?) and its release date
is there any chance for ovi maps to include maps for Nepal?? I know its tiny and easily overseen in the world map but still...coz last time I google maped in my comp I was sooo glad to see it has the streets showing.

- Front camera videocalls (Not on android, voip on android was non-existant until 1.6 and now it is in an awful state, sipdroid and other voip apps (there are none installed by default) are really really bad. Video, forget it on android. - Ovi + step by step navigation (the android google navigation requires a data connection (and uses lots of it) throughout your journey and requires you to be in USA. - Fixes for wifi, the wifi in nexusone is a joke compared to on my n900. - camera, my nexus one camera is much worse picture quality than my n900 and is really **** in night mode. |
Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2?) and its release date
*Moan, moan, moan* I didn't research my device and I want things that the phone doesn't do...
Portrait is annoying, but we knew it didn't have it and won't fully get it. MMS? What's wrong with fMMS being developed?! This is meant to be speculation, not people threatening to sell theiir devices because they didn't research. I'm 100percent happy with mine. If they can improve it then that's great, but no complaints... My speculation is improved efficiencies, so a tiny bit more battery! |
Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2?) and its release date
I've no complaints about my device and It's fully doing its job for me and everything is great. So, I think people should stop crying about missing features, If It's OK for me, so N900 is good for at least ONE person, and It means you should pay more attention before buying anything.
PS: LOL, Tags are funny ^^ |

I hope they just speed things up like conversation window, (opening them, or scrolling through them)
and more places like that are there. (media player? image viewer?). I here that some have problems searching/scrolling through contacts if you have 3000 of them. But even that number shouldnt matter at all. They just should go look what eats cpu time at most places and optimize all of that. That will result in a better battery life in the end also.. |

The only thing you may be right about is the front camera mode on andriod, I have not checked, In regards to your other comments : - Iv'e been using on the n95 a program called waze, it's a free gps navigation application, which uses very very little bandwidth, provides excellent results, updates daily when you want over wifi, and takes into considerations traffic when calculating the best route. It's one of the best applications I have ever seen - Works on Symbian, Iphone, Android, WinMo. N900? no.... I have to carry my n95 and swap the sim card everytime I need GPS... - I don't know about nexusone, but I didn't say I am going to buy a nexus one. I said i'll buy an HTC phone that suites my needs. surely it won't cost more then the n900. the wifi on the htc HERO is great. A lot better and more stable then on the n900. - Again you consider the nexusone in regards to the night shots with the camera, I had great night shots with the n95, if you don't move it, push up the exposure, you can get great results. Pictures don't always have to be pretty, sometimes you need them to be practical. Don't get me wrong, I love the n900. But I keep compromising for many small things. And for the buck, I just don't like compromising. Now I have to get back to class (: If I get MeeGo (as mentioned yesterday in some post), and it will fix some stuff - You will see me running around in my underwear screaming "I got an N900 and I like it". Eitam. |

Nepal probably has GPS SatNavs for cars right now, hasn't it? In this case I suggest you to check what company provide the maps, so you can have a clue of what GPS application could include your country eventually. |

Dude, this is Nokia's best device, and the upcoming devices with maemo will represents the highest category devices in the future, therefore people asks for reason about normal and working navigation sotware, well-made telephony services, compatibility with other Nokia services (suchs as full OVI compatibility, not just some beta state store 'thing'), well made software for maemo platform (and not just "3 click linux rewrites/ports"), and so on. As long as this not happens, maemo and N900 will be just a great "toy" for developers and system administrators, but not the perfect device for the end-users. |

Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2?) and its release date
dam i hope this update comes soon... i mainly just pray for portrait mode, better battery, and more app storage space..would be nice for someone to develop an actual facebook app , instead of a widget and using the web browser
|

more app storage space? is the 2gb not enough for you? or do you mean rootfs? apps should just go to /opt and yes also nokia's own stuff if you ask me like maps. dont think a firmware upgrade will suddenly give you another battery ;) but i do hope they can optimize stuff so that it take less cpu cycles and because of that it is faster and takes less juice. |
Re: Speculation about the next firmware (PR1.2?) and its release date
what i wanna see?
media player: sorting by folder name with option to add folder to current playlist modest: possibility to select and copy text, links from email (without going to edit mode - just like in browser cursor on the side) search emails at least by title basic features still missing |
what happening with the pr 1.2 update
Hey guys just wondering whats happening with the pr 1.2 update if any one knows or i missed the info some where?
i was hoping it would be in the 1st week of march but seems like there is gonna be delays. Do you guys think its going to be delayed more due to n900 including more things in the update because of the whole meego 1 on n900? 2 things i could do with, turn by turn maps (fingers crossed supports potrait mode) and bug fixes  like many others i check for updates everyday....sad i know :P |
Re: what happening with the pr 1.2 update
You've got 2 hopes, Bob Hope and No Hope!
|
Re: what happening with the pr 1.2 update
bob hope rocks..... The search function is your best bet :) - few long threads on it.
Simple answer - Nokia never releases dates, rumours and bob hope, hope it will be soon :D Not sure what you mean by delays? - as they don't release dates.... then they can't be delaying can they? |
Re: what happening with the pr 1.2 update
can be released any day now ;)
