you can re-install sheep now, shouldnt be an issue.
AFAIK the phonon library has compatibillity issues with QT4.6, a search might help, kind or remembering seeing some other places where users reported this.

3. Prime time viewing

configure a prime time if you wish to see only programmes between that time on favourite channels for a selected date.

4. About screen

Add a software version to the title or an about page.

5. Dont show past programmes

A user selectable option not to show listings in the past.

There may be more to follow, but this is the thought I could put together after hearing from you and from what I had planned.
Your doing a great job with this in your spare time. We really appreciate your efforts for the community. :)

Im happy to add more regions, its quite a trivial thing, if you would like to add denmark, read my post#1 about XMLTV data.
Basically you can generate yourself and host it or find me a website that hosts xmltv files for denmark.
If you need more help you could PM or email me.

There were datas yesterday and there are datas today, so I think you could have a problem with your internet connection.

EDIT: ok I've problems with Canale 5 too, but Italia 1 works fine (like Rai).

Canale 5 is giving many problems with Showtime: one day there are datas, the day after there are no datas, etc...

BUT it's not Showtime's fault at all!
So please do not vote thumbs down in Extras-Testing and do not criticize the program in this thread or in the Testing page. I'll continue the testing and post if I find some improvements.

yes, quite easy to add a region, but the xmltv datasource must have 1 file per channel per date, thats how the app is designed to operate.
Let me know if you can find one, I think I remember coming across the site you just pasted above, but I didnt include it for the reason I mentioned above.

If you cant find any I will try to see if there is a way I can incorporate this site into the app.

remember you can also generate yourself using free scripts available online and host it if you are willing to ;)

While that I found all contains 1 xmltv file for all channels ((

It would be desirable the universal decision that would be useful not only me but also all the for the rests in Russia member N900.

Well if that file contain data for many channels you could probably write a PHP script(or something like that - I only know PHP) to convert it to the correct format.

Im almost ready to release version 1.1 which has been enhanced quite a bit. Wait for that post for details :)

Before that, I just need another 2 votes for the current version. Guys, can i request your vote so it can move to the extras repository when QT4.6 will be available officially(PR1.2 perhaps).

Does it happen to contain a TV-guide like interface? Like 5 channels in a vertical list and programs listed horizontally along a timeline?

After the first successful release of Showtime

As promised, here is the much improved version of Showtime v1.1.

The main highlights are:
  • Added more countries , the current list is
    UK, Australia, NewZealand, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Slovenia, Croatia, Belgium, Poland, Russia, Malaysia, South Africa,
  • Added better sources for some regions so the channel list is now even bigger.
  • Added Search Function to search for any string, or saved favourite strings for each channel.
  • Added prime time setting.
  • Added a setting to hide past listings.
  • Improved the UI a bit, you will notice slight changes, but the usage will remain the same as before.
  • Added another icon set ;)
  • Once the data is read for a channel, the datesselector gets colored.
    green = avaialable, red = unavailable.
Ive prepared a detailed user guide which is attached, please go through that as it will help you understand how the app can be used best.

Please dont post saying you dont see data for channels X or Y , as we have already seen before in most cases it will be because the data doesnt exist with the source. You could however PM me and I can double check it when I have time.

Thanks once again for all the feedback and I hope this will be more joy to use.

You got the wrong flag on SE(Sweden), otherwise, nice work. Also, updating to the newest firmware got rid of the lag in the channel list, but the program listing lags more :( Also it doesn't seem to handle UTF-8 correct(or the language used by the Swedish source), I get blocks instead of å,ä and ö.

Also, you can't vote for this package right now:
"Warning: Promotion of Qt 4.6 based applications is blocked due to possible conflicts with upcoming Maemo 5 releases. See this post for more information."

@krk969: for me this app will be usable if one can update several
channels/favorites for one or several days at once, a workaround
for this would be sufficient. here is what i wish to imitate: buying a tv
magazine, looking for the program for a complete week, choosing
some good movies etc. and marking them.

nevertheless, i am impressed by your work!

just goto sky.com and register for the service using your online account.
on my deviice so cant look for the lnk now but you can find it easy

perhaps you missed the point :rolleyes:
thats exactly one of the main highlights of version 1.1.
you can do that now with this app.
programmes can be viewed and marked for upto a week or until the data is available .they can be added to your calendar.

for the prime time frame settings it says in both cases "start
time"?!

the program informations for german programs only contain
very rudimentary informations ... but this depends on the data
source i guess.

apt-get remove libqt4-maemo5-svg

it removes that lib and also any dependent packages.
then install the app.
then you can re-install the other package again.
this is due to QT4.6 instability which is still beta. let me know how it went.

please understand these XMLTV files are huge, sometimes 12MB per region, splitting/reading/loading them to memory and processing them all takes cpu/memory.
At the end of the day this is a mobile :) not a personal PC, some lag is expected, but ive noticed once selected channels are inmemory there is almsot no lag.
I certainly dont find it unusable in any effect.:rolleyes:
sorry cant help much with this, ive done a lot of improvements to decrease the data processing and loading, i dont want to further complicate.

if you google you will find there are issues with ISO 8859-1(what I used) encoding , some people do report this with these special characted being "blocked" out. I will try to see if I can do something about it.

$ apt-get remove libqt4-maemo5-svg
E: Could not open lock file /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (13 Permission denied)
E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), are you root?

i have installed aptly and rootsh. is this a problem?

you need to run as root.
type root then enter.
then type the command.

anapospastos, I would need XMLTV files which are the channel information in xml format like the examples I gave you.
Grabbers are basically scripts that goto the websites like nova.gr extract the information from there and create the xmltv files.

mkay... my problem was that i didn't have the devel repo activated... so my libqt-packages weren't on the (very) latest version -.-

Ive updated Denmark with a new channel list which seems to be covering more of the channels available in Denmark.
The version is 1.1-2.
